Christmas Parade and (some) December activities
For those who might be on St John in December.......
Mongoose Christmas Party - December 12th
AND
Christmas Parade - Sunday, December 13, 2009
The parade will start in front of Mongoose Junction at 6:30 pm and go by the passenger ferry dock and up the street by Connections and right into Winston Wells Ball Field.
Santa will then give out free presents to all the children in attendance in the Ball Field.
At approximately 7:30 pm the concert will start. This year's concert features some of the most talented High School Jazz musicians from St. John, St. Thomas and St. Croix.
Opening the show will be St. Thomas high school student Jazz prodigy sax player Malachi Thomas and his band JAZZ LAKE.
Headline act is The Central High School Jazz Ensemble from St. Croix.
ALSO
As some of you might know, the “Dancing Classrooms” program has started on St John for the 5th graders - Ballroom Dancing as part of their curriculum as shown in the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom, and on Friday December 11th (I believe) the competition for the 5th graders will be held at the Westin Hotel – yes I will be judging – and they will be competing in Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Merengue, Swing and Rumba. I am sure it will be a fun evening for all. Details are still being worked out but if anyone is interested in attending just let me know – I’m not sure if it will be an open dance after the competition, or a fund raiser or ……………….. but it will be a fun evening that I am sure.
I’ll keep you posted if you are interested.

Pia that dance competition for the 5th graders sounds so fun! I will be on STJ with my own 5th grader (and 7th grader) but not until 12/26. The activities for island kids probably wind down over the holiday break but if there is anything going on between Christmas and New Years I'd love to know.
Thanks for keeping us posted.

YEAH! It all sounds like fun. Hubby and I were listening to Inner Visions today, talking about how much we're looking forward to the party at Mongoose Junction. It can't come soon enough, what with the early snow here in Vermont. Pia - I would really love to watch the ballroom dancing kids. Not sure if DH is game, but I'll try to talk him into it. I also told him about your idea about buying dog food on STT, so hopefully he'll humor me and let me stop to pick some dog food before we catch the ferry.
