Booking Airlines and Rental Car

Post by greyhoundmom »

By the time we go back in July 2010 it will have been 2 years off-island. What time frame do you suggest to book the above? With the airline, is there a month in 2010 that would be better to book for a better fare?We always use Conrad for our rental and can't remember when would be cutting it too close. Thanks!

I would book Dec 13 I just have a hunch that is what will be the best deal for air fare  No really greyhound ya have plenty of time to get ya good airfare. Go to Kayak and set you up an email alert with them to STT from your home airport. Put in what you think is a good price and willing to pay. Make sure ya mark receive daily. We always get pretty good airfare doing this but I've learned if ya see a great price your happy with ya gotta react fast cause those great rates disappear fast.

Not sure how you feel about Spirit, but being from SC I thought I would mention that I have seen a few 50.00 OFF coupons from them the last cpl weeks...I always check them for flights going out of MB..I found 4 rnd trip to FTL last week for 170.00. We are members of the $9 club and that saves a little bit too..esp if you are buying multiple tickets...

I bought my AA RT tickets from Boston for my April 2010 trip in August for $414.00 each. They are now $847.00 each. Good advice, check everyday and when you see a good deal take it. Airline tickets to STT never go down. Car rental, as soon as you have your airline tickets and Villa dates, lock-up the car for your arrival. They don't usually charge your card until you bring the car back when you leave.

I 2nd Kevino - after we booked our villa for April 17 -24th, checked the airlines, prices, were @ $328 r/t n/s, from jfk to stt, decided had plenty of time so waited. Wrong! Next time checked (month later) prices were now $448 !! That was it, booked our flts but was so mad at ourselves. As of this week now $600 for same flts... We keep watching cause Delta has a $ back guarantee if price goes down. Found Delta was little cheaper than AA. Wish Jet Blue would get in there..

So as all the others say, keep a close eye on the fares, but don't wait too long.

Good luck.
No ticker anymore. Next vac will prob. be the Fl Keys.
