We ran into this problem on the last trip. Hindsight I should have included some knives in the box that I shipped. Anything would have been sharper than what we had.
I'm hoping wonderlost replies to this. I remember being pleased that the kitchen at Starlit Escape was well equipped and the knives were nice and sharp. Maybe he could tell you where he got them.
Pia, I had that thought just recently...that it was too bad we couldn't rent an annual "locker" there, and it's only our second trip! I think you might have a good idea. Even if it didn't make much money, how much trouble would it be???
Some of you folks are stealing our thunder. VAGirl and myself had our business plans formualting for this very type of business on STJ while we were there in June. I guess great minds think alike. Ali~
Pia, I think you are on to something. The key is cost...if I could store snorkle and fins for four...it is sounding really good although we won't be back for a long time

Pia, I would definitely pay for a service like that! I would want enough room to store two sets of snorkel fins, a couple of fish id books, a couple of good skillets and a nice chef's knife.
Maybe you could buy a sharpener and make it available to your clients to use for a small fee when they come get their gear. Another option would be to offer good quality kitchen equipment for rent! Of all the houses I have rented--in totally different price ranges, only one had decent kitchen stuff! I am sure for the exact reason benchill states above.

Wow, great minds do think alike. I've often thought the same thing, Becky, and I'd gladly rent a climate controlled space to store my snorkel gear, beach chairs and a few other items like knives, a large cutting board, spices and other things that I pack every time I come.
Oh, and I'd like to be able to ship stuff down to be held until I get there. Even better to have this container/tote delivered to the villa that I rent and picked up when I leave.
Funny, a common pet peeve. Thanks for all of the offers. I may bring down the spare knives this trip! The 14" scimitar I use for breaking down sides to primal cuts stays at home. The chef's knife works fine on goats.

Yep, I experienced the same.
The one that had the best stuff was actually the least expensive villa we ever rented.
The most expensive one had junk, total junk. Think melted spatulas, pans with 75% of the teflon gone and the other 25% flaking off, bent forks, etc. When I brought it to the management company's attention they said the owners were suppose to have taken care of it. Huh?
