15 yrs...

Post by parafins »

Every Oct. 1st I like to post and just say just how much I love that special little island{S.T.J.} It has forever changed me,and makes me long for our next trip there. Can you be homesick for a place that you never have lived? I think so. I love everything about that island right down to the coral reef, and the soft white sand that sticks between my toes.15 years ago I said "I do"to my wife and on Oct.2nd 1994 we visited the island that has found a place in our hearts! Very cool! I know exactly what you are saying.

John Denver may have said it best: "I was born in the summer of my 27th year, came home to a place I had never been before"

Happy Anniversary to you both !!

What a precious tribute to your wife and STJ.

We haven't been to the "little bit of paradise" yet.

Next April is our 1st trip there but already have special feelings for STJ because of all everyone says here and our dear friends who have been many times and are the ones who convinced us to finally go. Have a feeling there is a STJ convert in the making...

Tipsy, you will get the infectious feeling we all got on our first visit. My wife and I started with our 20th wedding anniversary 3 years ago and I never really thought much about it before but now I am ready to renew our vows probably on our 25th year on the lovely little paradise we call ST.John.
enjoy!!!

Thank you, Wow,almost 25 yrs, how beautiful !
We've only been married 1 1/2 yrs, but have been friends for 21 yrs. We do things slow like on the islands. ha..

Looking at all the posts/pics etc here and in my OTBT and FFF books, I am so anxious to get there and start "limin" (think it's called?).

Have a good night.

Since our first trip to STJ in May, I find that I am homesick to be there. I long to go back and look at our pictures (all 800 of them) often. To us, it is the most special place on earth!

Hi Barb "Y"

Thanks for the info @ Capt'n John, will look him up. We not sure if will have time to do a charter this time, want to see as much of STJ as can on our 1st trip and want to run over to STT for a little bit one day.

Mattituck is @ 40 min east of us on the north shore fork. we're in Bay Shore on the south shore, 15 min from the ocean beaches. How do you know Mattituck? not one of the better known island towns.

Happy Anniversary Dan & Val! We are celebrating our 25th this year with a return trip to STJ. Been going since our 10th - although we did miss a few years in there, but this is our 8th trip in a row!!

Thank you all for the warm wishes.I remember what it was like to travel to St.John back then.It was a magazine article that drew are interests,so off to the travel agent we went to find more info."There's only 2 main resorts there they claimed" so we picked the Hyatt{now the Westin}We decided to spend one week on S.T.J. and the other on S.T.T. On S.T.T. we stayed on the Sapphire Beach.I hope I didn't miss spell that! The only guide book I could find was the Fodors for the virgin islands. That worked well for us.We thought It would be a short walk to town from the Hyatt, but we soon learned that 1/4 up Jacobs Hill that it was a bit too hot so back to the resort we went to rent a jeep.We learned alot that first trip ,and although we enjoyed our second week on St.Thomas St.John was more our style. :D Parafins

Parafins,
We know EXACTLY how you feel !! St.John was supposed to
be just the starting point for our Caribbean adventures.
Island Girl & I had planned to follow the island chain
down to Aruba . We never made it past the V.I., and we
are still hopelessly hooked on that little island .

Happy Anniversary to you and Val !
And many more.........
