Private Homes for Private Vacations?

Post by Teresa_Rae »

I've inquired twice about renting a villa through Private Homes for Private vacations. Once was 8 days ago and then again yesterday and I still haven't heard anything back.

The villa's rental calendar is pretty wide open for the fall so you'd think they would be eager to rent it.

I have inquired about homes in the past through PHPV and while the response time has never been what I'd call quick I've always heard back within a couple days.

Is this lack of response indicative of the services they provide? I've heard good things about PHPV before but this is obviously making me think twice.

There are two villas that we're looking at that only rent through PHPV so I am unable to take my business elsewhere unless we go with another villa.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Did you send an email, or call? I tend to like working via email, but some people respond more quickly to voicemail.

If you called and left a voicemail and didn't hear back after 8 days, I agree that even on island time that's frustrating. I'm sure the villa owners would appreciate some help getting their places rented. Too bad you can't go straight to the owners.

The PHPV email address uses the website for Caribbean Villas Owner Association, cvoa.com. If you go to that website you'll find a different phone number. Don't know if that will help you or not.

We used them last year for renting Island Horizons and they always answered my emails and phone calls in a timely fashion. I dealt with both Mary-Phylis and Mary-Eileen.

Then they ought to have an automated e-mail response stating that or, better still, someone they've hired to answer their e-mails/phone calls in their absence; don't you think?

Have rented from them a number of times and they are excellent. Like many STJ business, they close the month of September (none of their villas can be rented during Sept) so my guess is they are off island.

Teresa-
The company just recently returned from vacation.
Upon returning, they had computer problems.
I heard this first hand from Mary-Phyllis.
They're wonderful to work with, so give them another day to regroup from vaca, and inquire again.
Good luck, and always-

We have used them several times and they are great
to work with. Keep trying. Not like them to not answer.

I have been trying to reach another company and haven't
heard from them either. I guess everyone takes off
in Sept.

used pri homes twice in past year for 2 last minute trips and had excellent service both times. last arrival on 8/2 for a stay at nautilus, the entire family had gone on an extended vacation to the mediterrian (greece maybe). a longtime family friend came to stj to handle rentals while all were gone. note too that none of their villas rent during september so maybe not back in routine yet.

good folks and have some good off season rates and last minute discounts.

We were happy with them also. Jim seems to have the inside scoop. Have you gotten in touch with them yet?? If so, what villa are you staying at??

Yes, they sent me an email, as I was waiting for them to cash my deposit check. They filled me in, and we're looking at just a few weeks 'til our trip in November.
We'll be there 11/07-11/14 and staying at Sago Palms Villa.
Can't wait! Where are you staying?

We'll we're not staying anywhere unless I hear back from them

Sago Palms has been at the top of my list for awhile but it's too expensive for just the two of us.

I'm awaiting a response to email #3...we'll see.
