OK...villa searches make my head explode.
Planning next years trip. Have always gone with other couples, but going with just my wife next year. If anyone remembers, I went with another couple in April that are always having relationship issues and just as you all predicted, it was a nightmare. (Didn't let it ruin my time though!)
Anyway, probably going for high season. Needs are closer to Cruz than Coral, either a hot tub or pool or both, and moderately priced. Can be 1 or 2 bedrooms....let's hear your favorites!

I have to agree, I love Luna Vista, it's not as close to Cruz as Coral, has no hot tub, and I think the little pool might be chilly in the winter. Maybe they have it heated. But it's a GREAT villa for the $$$. I would love to stay there again. I love the location and it's just a really neat villa for a small group, and Bruce and Jan are the best. Not a worry in the world if they're around. In fact, I'd feel better if they were thre. Great people!!!

Definition of "moderate" can be subjective but here's 3 suggestions, compared with your criteria of "closer to Cruz than Coral, either a hot tub or pool or both, and moderately priced. Can be 1 or 2 bedrooms"
All of the following are 2 bedrooms because much as I love my honey, I no longer can deal with the nightime serenade (aka as SNORING!).
For your def of "moderate" check their rates online (just google their names plus st. john vi and you should get a number of hits).
Perelandra: close to Cruz Bay (less than 5 mins. from town), very private pool but no hot tub--nice and romantic for 2--nice and private--like living in a garden--but close to everything
Caneel Trailside: close to Cruz Bay (less than 5 mins. from town), pool but no hot tub (can't really say how private it is as when we rented the other house that is fairly close to it wasnt' done being built and I would think the people there could now see you); neat because it was right next to Caneel Trail so it was very nice being right next to the National Park but the view wasn't near as good as Perelandra's
Cinnamon Tarn: pricier I expect than the previous 2 but, again, right in the midst of the National Park; no pool but does have a giant hot tub; views are amazing
Hope this helps!

I know it's crass, but here's a plug for our own house! You said you wanted to be closer to Cruz Bay, but after 20 or so years of St. John visits, we decided that it was Bordeaux Mountain or nowhere! So we bought land and completed our house three years ago. The road up is now completly paved and our driveway is flat and easy. http://greatcaribbeangetaways.com/skyflower.htm . Check it out.
Welcome to the forum Bill
OK, I do need to add that there are many villa owners on this forum (Reef Madness, Anchorage Aweigh, Bo Atabey to name a few) but all participate with answers to other questions - you know, best beach, best car rental, best restaurant, how is the weather etc - but I have noticed all of your answers have only been in response to villa questions with a link to your own villa.
We love new members here but it would be nice for you to join in and be part of the "whole" forum.
Hopefully no offense has been taken

swoop,
from highest to lowest priced, we have enjoyed temptress on upper rockridge with drop dead views, nautilus on maria bluff and "little" moonsong overlooking hart bay and now pond bay but nice winter sunsets and surf sounds, all convenient to cruz bay. i've also always looked at island time (but never stayed there) when looking at possible trips.
happy hunting
