Tell me about trip insurance

Post by mindehankins »

Hi everyone! Looks like we're going to have to move our trip up a month and travel in September, so I need to get crackin on some details!
Trip insurance. Any advice? This will be the first time we're doing anything other than the add-on the airlines offer. I insure for just the flight and cottage rental, right?
One option on CSA covers cancellation for business reasons (a possibility for me) but then charges an extra premium for "cancellation for any reason." Would it be very difficult to prove that I'm cancelling for business reasons?
How does this all work? If we did need to cancel, do they refund us by check? Do they pay the remainder of the rentals?
Thanks for all the help!

I think CSA trip insurance is a good idea at any time of the year - I always purchase their insurance for myself and my family when we travel for the health insurance coverage alone. During hurricane season, especially September, I think it would be prudent (RickG probably doesn't think so :)

For your specific questions I would call CSA directly at (800) 873-9855 - but if you do purchase, please do so through the link on the left of this page - the forum does earn a commission on the sales from the site :)

Thanks!
