I'll be on island from April 15-22; maybe we can get together for a cold one at the Beach Bar...

and you're right about the WEST Virginia thing...people ask where I'm from originally, and when I tell them Western Virginia (mainly because they've never heard of Clifton Forge), they think I mean WVa...

Check out Vintage 50 brewpub in Leesburg, if you get a chance. The brewer there, Bill Madden, does awesome work. He is usually there on Tuesday evenings. He spent his honeymoon on STJ... at the St. John Inn during Enighed Pond construction :(.

Hey Guys,

Another native Virginian here. Born, raised, and still live in Richmond. I think the St John allure hits us because we already have the heat and the humidity. We're just missing the blue water and the beaches (good beaches). I married a boy from South Jersey, just outside of Philly, and we developed our St John addiction together. We spent 3 1/2 years splitting time between here and Arlington when he worked on the Pentagon Renovation Project, so I got a good taste of Northern Va traffic.
We would definitely try to make it to any get together up that way. It would be nice to see everyone's smiling faces. 8)

To Gromit--I live in Old Burke--close to the Nursery. How about you? We've probably seen each other at Giant
before and never knew we had the same addiction (St John I mean)

To tonyadams--Go Bucks. Have to admit it took me a while to wear my OSU sweatshirt again after our little football fiasco. Oh well, its a new season now. I'm jealous with your 16 day countdown--mine is 144--but considereing my count started at 275 its starting to look really good to me!! Have a great trip.

My hubby was born and raised in Newport News, he graduated from Warwick in 1972.

Okay all you Mclean, Rt. 123 folks.............I lived in Vienna before Tyson's Corner opened!! There was a little bar at the corner of Rt. 123 & Rt.7 called The Crystal Pistol. :P :P It was as classy as it sounds!

Things sure have changed

Jorge - you bring up Virginia and see the people coming out of the woodwork. That's pride ;)

I had no idea this would create all this cyber connecting. It's pretty cool if off-topic. Sorry for those who are bored by it. At least with the new forum format its easy to avoid lines of discussion that are boring! Not that VA could ever be boring. LOL.

Pete and Robin - that is a picture of the Peaks of Otter from my house. The Blue Ridge Parkway was a great place to go for "alone time" during those dating years.(late 70's early 80's) Then it turned into a great place for family outings when our child came along. Now that our son is grown and doing his own thing we spend quite a bit of time hiking trails on the Parkway. We live 6 miles from the lodge at the Peaks.

VA Girl - we will definitely have to get together for a drink while on St John1 Let's set up a time before you leave.

This thread is a hoot....who knew so many people have ties to or live in Virginia on this forum?
