St. Thomas Villa/Condo help first time to USVI

Post by townsend12 »

I am traveling with another couple we are trying to decide between the following condo's/villa's are price range was about $270 per night(9 nights in Feb). We are looking for feedback on the following:

1) Has anyone stayed at these places? How would you rate them
2) What do you think about the location? Both couples are in are young 30's. We probably would want to go out 3 nights of the nine for nightlife.
3) How is the Beach in these areas?
4)If you have a different condo/villa you would recommend we are open to suggestions.
Below are the units that we are thinking about

$270 a night (magen's bay area

$170 a night (caret's bay northside)

$270 a night (bolongo bay southside)

$280 a night (cowpet Bay next to Elysian Resort)

Thanks in advance for the help. I am a new at the chat board and first time to USVI.

Caret Bay will be going off when the swell from Bill rolls in.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

Darn, you found our hidden gem! We love love love the house on Caret Bay. I am sure the cottage will be fine, it is 30 ft. above the reef. The owners live nearby and are very nice. They will leave you alone, but are very approachable and fun to talk to if you have questions. The road to reach their place is quite adventurous though! One lane and very bumpy, you do need a Jeep. We love staying on the northside. However, the rental by the Elysian looks pretty nice. It would be closer to the nightlife, like Duffy's and Iggy's(Bolongo Bay). Please DO NOT try to drive drunk back to Caret Bay, too windy & bumpy. Plus the 70 some stairs to walk down!

I think you will be happy with any of those choices. The north side is our favorite though. The breeze from the north side is so nice!

My personal preference would be any of your choices except for...southside/Bolongo. Stayed next to Bolongo before and it was the 1st AND last. Very unimpressive beach area and views from there. East end is real convenient and has nice beaches...the views from the North side/Caret are beautiful!! Our last stay on STT was @ Mahogany Run/northside and our next is the same area. We love it! A bit of a ride to the restaurants and ferry in Red Hook, but we don't mind. If you want convenience I'd choose the East end.

Enjoy!!!

Booked a villa

Post by townsend12 »

Beachbum and Kathy,
Thanks for the advice. I ended up finding exactly what we were looking for on the northside. We really wanted pool and hottub and we now found it. I included the link. I am really glad I posted here because we would not have really thought about the northside. I am glad we stayed away we will still make it to iggys. I have included the link. it looks awesome and has great reviews. Thanks again. Now on to a car. We also have to book a hotel room for one night because the villa was already booked. It looked worth it though.
