Mary Beth - I have the extra large w/ the long handles. Honestly, I would have this one even if I didn't have kids. But if you are a pretty light packer probably the large would be fine.

We're two adults, but lots o' stuff and we went with the XL-- It's HUGE. Enough for towels, change of clothes, magazines, sunblock, snorkel gear etc. If you don't have THAT much stuff then go with the Large.

They fold up nicely and aren't as stiff as their usual totes.

Thanks Flip Flop
those darn towels take up a lot of room so I was thinking the XL would be best.
Thanks a lot.

Do what I do...fill it up and make hubby carry it :) Seriously, it is very sturdy and plenty of room for 2 big beach towels, sunscreen, snacks and reading materials. My husband carries a separate bag for all the snorkle stuff for us both. I didn't marry a strapping man for nothing!

I feel like I should go shopping again! I have the LLBean one and my sister gave me one last year from Life is Good...I really like it, very roomy, soft canvas, long straps.

If you can wait, buy your tote bag at the Canvas Factory st Mongoose Junction. I bought one there last year. It has inside and outside pockets and holds lots of stuff. It's about the size of the LLBean large boat bag. I have one of those (LLBean) but I don't like it as much because 1)it's heavier and 2)it doesn't have the pockets to keep stuff organized. I love my Canvas Factory Bag. My daughter uses one for a diaper bag. I use mine for traveling and for the beach.

How about this one?

I bought one at Old Navy a few years back, have washed it a couple of times and it still looks great (its canvas). I was looking at the llbean ones a couple of weeks ago but then kind of forgot about it. Anyway the above link looks like a decent bag.

Sadly, no luck at TJMaxx. I ended up with this one from Target - at $10.99 (sale), can't really complain!!

I always find a new one for each year at Target. They just put them out a week or two ago so all the new styles are in stock and their so cheap you can buy a new one each year!!
