Instead of Coral Bay Marina /Should it be Coral Bay Water ?

Maybe this discussion should be about water quality in Coral Bay and how to make it better or Blue most of the time??

I guess the only way to do it would be having water police out there making sure people aren't dumping stuff they shouldn't be...But this is St. John and we know that will never happen.
Have you ever tried to reach out to other homeowners to see about getting a group together to try and bring some change??
I know you just bought your place but surely there are others that feel as strongly about this as you do..
I'm all for anything that will keep the Coral Bay area clean and beautiful.

I know there is a Coral Bay Citizens Committee.....It would be nice to do something about the water quality. I actaully applied for the land planner/engineering position for STJ but had to refuse in the since my hubby wasn't sure about his job situation down there (he is a pilot). When we are down in a few weeks I can talk to some people I know in Coral Bay....they might know something.

I though applying for the position, but after 4 years of running around in the VI, I am not sure I could handle the politics.. I spent several years in Washington DC and the lack of direction and corruption the VI government makes DC look like the Jr League.
I have great respect for those who fight it and try to get things done on the lsland

There isn't likely enuf juice locally to get squat done on this type of issue.

Just identify a rare mollusk/fungus/insect that is now threatened in Coral Bay and call the Sierra Club and the EPA. You may get a lot of PO'd locals but the water will clear up in a few years.

Yeah maybe when your group gets the water in Asheville, Doylestown and Cleveland to be perfect, you all can come down and help us solve some perceived problems here in The VI.

Last time I checked, the economies in Doylestown, Asheville and Cleveland weren't totally dependant on their beautiful pristine beaches and waters.

It was not my intention to offend anyone

It is pretty simple to me

I do care about the water. My family swims in it, we boat in it, We depend on it to bring folks to STJ,
and keep our business running so we can live in STJ!!!

I didn't think my post was offensive either Ted. But you are now a homeowner there and have a right to be concerned. I just come for a visit once a year.
IMHO I don't ever think it's a bad thing for people to want to swim or live near clear, unpolluted water. I live near the Jersey Shore, where chemical waste washing up on beaches is not out of the norm. Or where my niece found a used hypodermic needle on the beach and took it to her mother when she was 10. For this reason alone I stopped going to the Jersey Shore and started to come to STJ.
I think we all want to preserve the beauty and clarity of the waters around STJ. It's what draws us there (or in Ted's case, made us want to buy a home there). We all just want to know how to make the place we all love better.
