Cliffside Villa

Post by Saint »

Hello...my husband and I are thinking about a quick trip to our favorite island in early November.
Cliffside will let us rent for fewer than 7 nights which is unusual! We only need a one bedroom and prefer the Maria Bluff/Chocolate Hole area and this fits our budget as well! Anyone have any reviews?

I have always thought that pool on the edge of the cliff looks great. It doesn't have ac in the bedrooms. Is that an issue for you??

We stayed in Nautilus in June and it's on the point of Maria Bluff. It's a great house and rents for a 5 night minimum at 250. a night. It has a large spa, but no pool. Great master with large bathroom with seperate large, oval tub, and shower. AC also.

Cliffside

We stayed at Cliffside in 2003. It is a lovely house but we found it very lonely. There really is no view to speak of except watching the boats sitting in Chocolate Hole. Also no sunsets.... When we were there the pool and deck were over run with Iguanas - BIG Iguanas. They would dip in the pool (to poop) and chase you across the deck if they thought you had any food at all. I have read posts on this forum that people though the "Cliffside Iguanas" were cute and fun to feed, but we did not agree. Everyone's different!
And finally there is a house directly above Cliffside (it was rented part of the time we were there which made "all over tans" impossible.) You can see Cliffside and the surrounding homes on the Chocolate Hole website.
But as I said in the beginning it is a lovely house with lots of windows, a great kitchen etc. which you might think is perfect for you.

We've stayed there twice. Once in May 2004 and again in March 2008. There is no air conditioning - but we never needed it. The breeze off the water is terrific. In the late afternoon it would be cool eneough for me to switch from the pool to the hot tub. We happen to like the iguanas and would feed them every day. They love fresh lettuce or melon. Never had a problem with iguana poop. Watching the boats come in and out of the bay was great.

Ah yes the villa above cliffside - I never let it bother me. Yes if your going to wander about naked they can see you from above and from the boats. I always threw on a t and then removed it in the water.

I have been really trying to decide if I want to post a trip report, so this may be me putting my toe in the water to decide.

We just got home yesterday from staying at Cliffside for 17 days.

Yes...there are Iguana's, but hubby took care of that problem in about 1 day. (We were all friends by the time we left, they just had to be trained to not bother us when we were on the pool deck, and no BR issues from any of them).

No AC in July was NOT a problem, the ocean breezes are incredible.

No view? The view is great! No direct sunset, but an incredible sunrise, and watching the tropical showers come from the east between the mountain ridges w/Kenny playing on the IPOD is something I will never forget.

Very convenient location. In CB in about 2 minutes, swimming in Chocolate Hole w/great snorkelling in about 1.5 minutes. Life is good!

There is 1 house right above you, with lots of foliage between the 2 houses, and if you check it out, you will see that there are many private areas on the deck.
