Jumbie Stairs Picture?
Jumbie Stairs Picture?
Does anyone have a picture of the stairs at Jumbie? I thought I saw one but I can't find it now. My wife is curious. I think she want to make sure that she can get away in case the Jumbies are after her

Time to start working on convincing the wife that we have to go back soon!

I guess we are weird but John and I don't like Jumbie. The one time we visited, on our first trip, we had the beach to ourselves, and honestly felt kind of creeped out. We could not stop thinking about the stories we had just read about the way the plantation owner treated his slaves--I think FF&FWD had a story about how the owner used his slaves buried to their necks in the sand for bowling targets
, and that during the rebellion the slaves chopped up the owners and threw them down the property well!
Even last year, we snorkeled all the way over from Gibney, and we had to turn around when we got to Jumbie. I just get bad vibes there.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
We had never been to Jumbie in all our past trips. This year. We showed up early (like we always do!) headed down there picked a spot and looked at each other and said "let's leave" at the same time. Not sure why. Just didn't like it. Headed over to Trunk. Interestingly, Jumbie was "packed" - okay four other groups at that time of day (8:00 am) and no one was at Trunk until a little after 9:00 that day. Not a sole but us...the best way to enjoy Trunk.
Jumbie didn't spook us, just didn't like it.
Salt Pond is a favorite. Got there at 8:30 am on our most recent trip and already 8 cars in the lot. By 11:00 the beach was beyond packed. Nothing like past trips. We left around noon and there were at least 24 cars in the lot and on the side of the road. It was so sad. This had always been a place with few people and lots of quiet and good snorkeling. This year, it felt like you couldn't snorkel without bumping into someone.

Jumbie fun
The best thing about Jumbie aside from the great snokeling is to get there and watch the snorkel boat from ST come in and watch all the criusers jump in and flounder awhile until they get the hang of it.
