I also agree that the Island Beachcomber is a great place before/after flights. It is about 1/4 mile from the airport, on a great beach, and the king beachfront rooms are literally right on the beach! Here is their website:

Emerald Beach is another option...Great burgers too and you get Sam tending the Tiki bar

Is the Island Beachcomber the closest hotel to the airport? If it is, we stopped there for some mexican food right after we got into STT last time. It looked like the rooms were badly in need of some help. A place I wouldn't even think of staying.

Connie, I think the one with the Mexican restaurant is the one right up at the airport. The Island Beachcomber is a little farther down, as you get closer to the entrance to the airport on the main road. It's not fancy, but we have stayed there for a night before and it's clean and has a pretty beach. It's little beachfront bar and restaurant aren't too bad either.

The Best Western Caribe Beach is the one closest to the airport with the Mexican food. Then is the Island Beachcomber and then Best Western Emerald Beach.

We just stayed at the Emerald Beach for one night last week. I would highly recommend them for a one or even two night stay. The rooms all have a view of the ocean and we had two rooms that were identical and very nice. We relaxed on the beach and in the pool for a bit,had a drink from the beach bar and had dinner at their Italian Restaurant. It was actually very good food! I looked for a long time to find the cheapest rate and finally booked for 136.00/night.
