You guys seriously need to move & open up "Liamsaunt's Snorkeling Tours & Culinary Delights"
Question: Could we dinghy to Scott Beach in October? Caneel is closed that month and I sure would like to snorkel there!

Becky - I can relate. This past trip's re-entry was harder than normal for me, and I don't know why. I was REALLY depressed when I got home. Better now, but it was bad initially.
We know you will be back again soon and giving us more awesome reports with awesome snorkel pics and gorgeous food porn.
Thanks for the report!

OK, now I am sad your trip is over, means no more trip updates or pictures!
Glad to know you will be back and looking forward to that trip report and those pictures.
Thanks for sharing--I really enjoyed your photos and I hope I can come close to your shots and Vicky as well!

I typically hate most trip reports because they often contain what I feel is a lot of minutia. I know- some of you folks love all those details about people's planes being late, etc. but I don't and want to get to the substance of the adventures themselves
... anyway - Becky - yours are always magnificent... informative & fun - with fabulous photos
... THANK YOU

After reading your outstanding and very descriptive accounts of this and other St John trips, I always feel calm and relaxed. Your writing seems to reflect the slower pace of the vacation, and the photos, especially underwater, are beautiful and peaceful. Yours are reports I always look forward to and reread as well.
Thanks, thanks!
Thanks, thanks!

... no longer a stranger to paradise
I have to tell you that I always very much look forward to reading your reports - and always, always enjoy them so much. Wish I could snorkel with you - then I might get to see a Nurse or even dolphins! John must have some sort of connection to dolphins... perhaps your encounter with them at Waterlemon during the previous trip awaken his dolphin-senses.
Hope you'll be back on the island soon, Becky.
And, thank you! for the wonderful reports.

Thanks again for another great TR chapter.
I must pay more attention when I snorkel - there's a ton of good stuff down there that I don't ever see.
I will be on a hunt for octopi in November. I know to look for the empty shells - any other tips?
Wish you kept a ticker so we'd know when the NEXT installment will be published.

jaysedeee, I don't know how to make a ticker. I don't know how to change my avatar either!
cocosmom, I am really happy with my canon powershot sd 800. It only cost about $250. We had another, larger camera with us on this trip, but I think the small powershots do great underwater with the canon housing. The whole package should come in at around $400. Or you could look into that new canon that doesn't need a seperate housing--the D10, I think?
msgcolleen, I don't know about Scott. There are no dinghy channels on that beach, so I don't know if it would be allowed. I'd assume they'll have security working even though the resort is closed. You could always tie up to a mooring--there are about 12 off Scott--and snorkel. The really good reef at Scott is out by the point anyway.
I forgot to put a link to my complete set of public beach and underwater photos in the report. Just in case you are not sick of my pictures yet, here's a link to the flickr set:

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! Have a great weekend.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
I have thoroughly enjoyed each of your installments - absolutely superb! I think most will agree that you are the highlight of our day with great photography and food porn included! I'm wondering if you could compare your winter trip, including snorkeling experiences with this one in July. (After you get settled back in, of course).
Found myself getting choked up when I saw the picture of Caneel ferry's wake and Caneel in the distant background. Really could feel for you; however, the renewed hope of another trip helps soothes the "wound", right? Thanks for everything.
