Private taxi referral
I am considering a private taxi for my next trip. I know I had a card for someone, but I can't find it and can't remember his name. Can anyone recommend a private taxi and tell me about what the rates would be for one way from the airport to Red Hook? There are 3 of us. I want to say I paid around 15. plus tip for a regular taxi. Does that sound about right?
I tried to do a search, but once again, I never seem to find what I'm searching for.

The two I have heard of are Rachel's and Christopher's.
I have an old number for Christopher - (340) 775-9257
We used him when we did the Dohm's water taxi from STT to STJ. I think it was $15/pp but a $75 minimum. Worked for us because we had 5 people, if you have fewer people you may still have to pay the $75 so I would verify that part.
My vague memory was that he was a super nice guy.

We used East End Taxi 1-340-775-6974 several years ago and they were good.
Last time we went we booked our villa through Carefreegetaways and they set up the taxi service for us. It was through Committed Taxi Service 1-340-774-7457. Our driver was Ivan and he was great! He 'Shot the hills' and got us to Red Hook in record time! I would highly recommend him. It was $90 for 1-6 people I believe and then $15 for each additional. Check with them though b/c I may be mistaken it was back in 2007 and I've slept since then
You may want to also check with the villa company you use and they may be able to set it up for you as it appears alot of them have co's or people they use on a frequent basis.

I found this topic was discussed in June. Amazing what you can find with Google. I called Rachel and she is as nice as everyone says. I can't wait to meet her. She also quoted me 20. each for 3 people. That sounds like a no brainer. Thanks for her number, X. I told her I got her number off the forum and she guessed it was from you.
I used Christopher's taxi last week when we were coming over this trip. $75 from airport to the Natinal Park dock where Dohm's picked us up with a private water taxi, $125. Worth every cent not to be crowded into a taxi from the airport. By using a private land and water taxi we took at least an hour off the trip and it felt like "hours". Shipped ahead to connections and did carry on only, went without a hitch and made getting here hassle free. We'll use Christopher's again when we leave. Although I suspect all of the private taxis would be about the same, comfort wise. Well worth the money for the land taxi, the water taxi was very nice but if I had to pick between doing one or the other it would be the land taxi, just for the comfort factor. If you can swing both it is a very nice way to begin your visit.

Of course, I have to recommend Rachel. Not only is she a dear friend but she is just an all around good person that loves what she does.
Every time I talk to her, she tells me about the "internet people" that she has driven, she remembers names and where people are from and tells me that they all say that they heard about her from the internet which she has never been on
I am sure there are other great companies, but she is tops in my book!!!

We have used Rachel twice and will be using her again. In fact, I talked to her tonight. She is one of the most genuine and personable individuals I believe I have ever met and besides that she's a great taxi driver. Can't wait to see and talk to her again.
PS-The last time we used her it was Carnival Parade Saturday in STT. To avoid the traffic she took us up over the mountain. We saw some of the most breathtaking views on that trip. In fact, we drove right by Mountain Top just about 5-6 weeks before it burned.
