A/C in December? Whatcha think?
Hi there. You were all super helpful with information on Seascape Villa. Thank you so much.
So...whats the skinny on A/C? We are planning for December and were wondering in A/C makes for a much more enjoyable holiday.

Also think about mosquitos-where your villa will be (breezy cliff or tropical garden) and whether your villa has good screens.
My daughter has been eaten alive by mosquitos in a villa with bad screening and an outside shower attached to her bedroom.

I have been twice in December/January and needed A/C both times. Likes others have said, it depends on how high up you are, etc. We did not have it once and will never do that again. We did not get a good nights sleep and always felt tired during the day because of that. Also, when you get out of the shower and are getting ready to go out at night, we were sweating and felt soggy. It sounds like this may be your first time at this time of the year to be on the island. If you get a place with A/C, at least you can see if you need it or not.
We went once in January. The air temp was incredible, but still a little stuffy for sleeping. Since you are from the South (my hometown of Charlotte, NC), you are probably used to heat and humidity. I am too, however, I consider A/C an absolute requirement in the bedrooms. I can do without in the common areas, but it makes for a much more comfortable stay to have it while you sleep and get ready.
As a general rule, if you are on the northshore, or probably in the Coral Bay area then I'd say "No", you don't need AC in December. If your villa is on the south or west side of the island you probably would be more confortable with AC. We were there in February/March and never turned the AC on (northshore). When we were there in June we (2 of the 3 bedrooms) used the AC everynight.
I'd say it really depends on where the villa is and whether it gets good breezes.
