Day 5: Honeymoon Gathering, POOL, & Carnivore Night

Day 5: Honeymoon Gathering, Pool AGAIN & Island Blues for Carnivore Night

Up and at 'em as usual. Bagels & cereal (& coffee for Flip-Flop) and we are ready to go. Again, I had taken to packing for the most part the night before. So much easier!! Earlier in the week at the Beach Bar Gathering a few of us decided to try to meet up at Honeymoon for an impromptu gathering. As far as I knew it would be a few people - LMG, Pia, Ruth and our crew. Little did I know how quickly word would spread via Coconut telegraph!

Beautiful Honeymoon Beach

Honeymoon Beach is one of Caneel's 7 (or is it 8 - I may be confusing Caneel with Negril's 7 mile beach or vice versa) beaches. Pristine and beautiful and also a favorite spot for Cruise Ship drop-offs. Note to self: In the future, check the ships in STT before deciding on which day to do Honeymoon if you want it to yourself. As it was, it wasn't too bad.

To get to Honeymoon, you go through the fancy new guard gate at Caneel. Tell them you are going to Honeymoon and they'll wave you right through. Head to the left and park. The walk (I would not call it a hike even with kids and our stuff) is pretty easy, mostly flat and takes about 10 minutes tops. It was stroller friendly. ;-)

The Boys decide to check out the water

We headed all the way down to the right side (facing the water) to set up our own little enclave by the rocks. There was a GREAT breeze on this beach and thus no skeeeeeters at all. It was so nice some of our crew returned there later in the week.

My kids set to playing and a closet forumite walks by and says, "Mini and Belly Flop!" Ah, are we too recognizable! He identifies himself as Soggydog, a rare poster, but I immediately recognized the moniker. We say hi and he moves on along the beach. Soon, the forumites are decending. Our crew is sizable with just the Flip-Flops and Gromits but soon along come Ruth & LMG (fresh off their parasail), Pia, Tracy from WI & Alex (her adorable little amphibious son), The McDomzals, Liamsaunt & John, Bob & Anita, Jimg20 & Diana, and eventually rounded out by JMQ and his crew.

BIG GROUP ... almost as big as our Beach Bar Gathering.

Such a beautiful setting...I am starting to understand the appeal of Caneel. A little. After 6 trips this was our FIRST trip to a Caneel Beach. Hey, I was too intimidated!

What a playground!

I decide this catamaran would do nicely for me.

Daddy Flip-Flop and kiddos are hard at work trying to make a pool

It was at this gathering that someone informed Mini Flip-Flop of her online persona. She was thrilled and started telling everyone she was "Mini Flip-Flop and that's my brother, Belly Flop!" And she'd giggle. It wasn't until we were on the way home that she asked, "What's a forum?"

Unfortunately, just as the party was getting started again it was almost nap time so we decided to pack it in and head back to the house for lunch and nap time (also known as time for mama Flip-Flop to get her afternoon cocktail on poolside).

Also known as time for Pool Tricks my Mini Flip-Flop

Mini Decides its time for a photo op and managed to catch a beautiful glimpse of our amazing views!

Mr. Flip-Flop checks in to make sure we are behaving ourselves (of course we are not!)

Post-Pool and as the rest of the troops arrive we decide to get cleaned up, feed the little ones dinner and get ready for our first night out without kiddos. We decided to try Sweet Plantains but upon arrival find it closed. I think they are now closed for the off-season on Mondays & Tuesdays as this was a Tuesday night. Instead we decide to head to Island Blues and happen onto Carnivore Night!

Again, we were too hungry to get any food porn! Sorry, guys. My hubby and I started with the coconut shrimp, which were excellent and then I had the Sirloin with fried onions while he had the Ribeye with jerk seasoning. Among our group I think we ended up with at least one of each Carnivore specialty. Everything was very tasty and our waitress was excellent!

Post-dinner we had to head to Lilly's AGAIN to pick up more milk. My kids drink a lot of milk! Then it was back to the house for a little more chilling before bedtime.

Tomorrow: Drift Away Spa, Lunch at Plancha del Mar, Gram Flip-Flop Arrives, Grilling at the house

I'm enjoying your play-by-play. Sorry we couldn't make it to Honeymoon too that day.

Flip Flop, your reports are great - as always and your children are beautiful!

It's a bummer that you missed Sweet Plaintains. They are always closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so be sure to plan on that for your next trip :)

We made it there later in the week --- on Curry Night. My hubby's brow was sweating but we loved it. Such a great place. More to come in a later report ;-)

Love it! It was so fun walking up on everyone that day and squealing when you realized who was who (or was that just me? :) ). And your girl was adorable: "I'm Mini Flip Flop."

Ahhh, what a great day! Was it really only 2 weeks ago? Feels like a year. It was so fun hangin' out with everyone. The forum gatherings were some of the highlights of our trip!
