Another Forumite Reunion
Another Forumite Reunion
Last November when we went to STJ, we had the pleasure of meeting DCphoto and her husband (Mel and Sandy). We have kept in touch over the last 7 months. They are from VA, but since Mel has family in Michigan, we thought that we should get together while they were here
.
It was only an hour drive for us, but we decided to stay out that way overnight. Mel helped me get a sweet deal on hotwire.com at a Hyatt in Auburn Hills. We were guests at Mel's brother's house.

Sandy and Gary

Sandy. Damn chilly weather in Michigan for July.

Sandy and Brenda. Both of our jackets say "Up North". It's a Michigan thing.

The Hopkin's men

A nice time was had by all!! We will be getting together with them again when we are on STJ the same time the end of November. Sandy introduced me to Captain Morgan Rum. That hurt a little bit this morning

I am heading "Up North" on Wednesday. I am bringing my West Indian hubby for the first time and he's been digging out his long pants and shirts for the occasion. I told him it would be warm during the day....but maybe not! My family has been going to Tawas MI since my grandparents were married more than 72 years ago. This time next week....I'll be roasting marshmallows on a camp fire for Smores!
Julie,
We had a rough winter and an unseasonably cool summer so far. Lots of clouds and rain. Mr Sun has been very persnickety about coming out. I'll bet the water temp in Tawas will be very cold. I have been to Tawas a few times many years ago for the "Perchville" polar bear swim shindig. I wonder if they still do that? I hope it warms up for you (and me!). Late night time temps will probably be low to mid 60's for the most part.
