Actually, the picture of the dust storm you see above was taken yesterday, so it hasn't made it to the Virgin Islands yet. Should be there late this weekend or early next week.

The thing that we noticed with the Sahara Dust recently when we were there besides the obvious lower visibility was that it makes the air more dense, hot and humid. It was really terribly hot in town on those days and very very sticky.

Dust and coral death?

There is a theory being investigated that links this dust to coral death, I had posted on the off topic forum...fyi.

jmq-I first received it in a Twitter message from NASA. Then I went to the nasa.gov website, copied the picture, uploaded to photobucket and then posted here.
