Under 25 Car Rentals on St. John

Post by lsugolfer »

New to the forum and am planning my honeymoon trip next April. We will both be 24, college graduates and professional employees for 3+ years, with perfect driving records since 16, yet can't rent a jeep on the island? Oh, and I'm also a jeep owner here in the mainland...

I'm perfectly fine paying a fee for being under 25, but this doesn't seem to be an option. Will any of the companies allow this?

Thanks!

First welcome to the forum, second congratulations and third try Cool Breeze Rental Car :)

I have heard they have done it in the past (but that is no guarantee for the future) Do remember when you call, to say "Good Morning/Afternoon how are you?" and wait for a reply before you ask the question (and it is the actual wording of good morning and not just a hello that is important) as it shows respect for local culture and it will go far here - it is the small things like that that will make a difference when visiting and could be the difference between them renting to you or not :)

Your back-up plan may be to rent from Budget on St. Thomas and just take the car ferry over. I have never done that, but some people actually perfer to take that route.

Thanks for all the quick replies! Hopefully I'm courteous enough to receive a rental (putting my southern charm to the test!). We are counting down the days to our trip, even though its still 9 months out. I will give a few of the companies a call in the upcoming weeks and post my results.

Looks like Budget on St. Thomas will be our backup plan, although the price differential even with the car barge seems pretty nominal.

Thanks again!
