Thinking of villa for 2 instead of Gallows... suggestions?

Post by lpowmacback »

Hi all - haven't been here (or STJ) in a while - but husband & I are hoping to go back possibly January - March. We have stayed at Gallows and LOVE it there- but right now - I am thinking of a villa. I never thought I'd consider one- as I love the daily maid service & the ease of walking into town that Gallows affords - but I think it might be fun... and romantic (not taking kids)... and possibly a little more economical (am I dreaming?) than Gallow's @ $500 per night.

So... any suggestions on which villa? We need a gorgeous view of water, pool & a very clean & well maintained property. It does not have to be big - or very modern - I don't need a granite-countered kitchen... (I won't be entertaining guests or preparing involved meals) - can be cottage-like & quaint - but open & airy. Maintenance & service regarding issues with pool & amenities, etc. are important- I am sure some villas have a better level of professional customer service than others.

What's good folks?
Peace,

Lisa

I would like to spend less than I would for Gallows - which would be approximately $3500 for 7 nights. As for location- I would like to not be too far from Cruz Bay- but would consider Coral Bay area too... I love the convenient location of Gallows- (forget something... just run over to the market in minutes) - but I realize most lovely villas will be further than that ;-).
Peace,

Lisa

Island Time

Post by jhillss »

My husband and I just returned from STJ. We stayed at Island Time Villa. It was absolutely fabulous. It has a nice pool that has a great view. It was small and quaint, but the perfect spot for us. We were with another couple and the 2nd bedroom is in the cabana (separate building from the villa) so offered us the perfect amount of privacy. I think it is within your price range, but check the Caribbean Villas and Resorts Website to be sure. The website also has great pics of the resort.

Haven't stayed there, but Miles Away through Destination St. John always gets rave reviews. It's on my short list if we need a 2 bedroom.

Our favorite is Cliffside. Right on Chocolate Hole, but far from the Pond Bay construction. Has a great little pool and hot tub and fabulous breezes. Best part - only $1855 p/w for two people off season. It's listed through Caribbean Villas.

Oh yeah - it's probably five minutes from the Star Fish.

If you're serious about Coral Bay, I would highly recommend St John Livin.

Easy access. 5 min to anything in Coral Bay. Awesome views. 1 BR...nearly new. pool...hot tub...on-island owner.

We loved it.
