We got our three bags back when we got home but DELTA (Don't Expect Luggage To Arrive) lost our two boxes of liquor. They admit that they received them, but cannot prove they ever got on the the plane in STT. We watched the porter hand them off.

Someone in STT is having a party with our booze.

I sure hope you get it all back. Maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised. Are you still sure you can't do carry on? It is so much easier, especially on the return leg.

Can't wait for your pics and report. I didn't take more than a handful of photos this time and can't remember what I did from one day to the next ( :? ), but I sure did have a fantastic time with my daughter and my friends. I could go back tomorrow. But I know you have it all documented with tons of pictures, and can't wait to see them. It was great weather, wasn't it? Lucky us!!

I think that roundabout will be finished in 2020, at the earliest. Lots of standing around and not much being done.

I'm glad your bags were located. That's a good start. When we left for St. John a few weeks ago, we joked that we usually have trouble not getting our luggage on our flights home, but we had never been without luggage at our destination -- I guess we shouldn't have said that! We were without ours for over 24 hours once we got to St. John. We missed a day going to the beach, but we kept busy with other things -- like calling the airlines!! I'm sure you'll have good news.

Jim -- sorry about your booze. :(

We had an issue in 07 because my husband refused to carry anything on the plane.

HIs bag gets lost, he has no clothes or shoes and wears size 14/15 shoes. The better part of day 1 was spent trying to find him acceptable (another part of the frustration) shoes.

One of my mom's bags was also lost. She was totally jonesing because it contained a stash of her special chocolate.

Lessons were learned on that trip, let me tell you...

This is a good reminder. I never check my bag when I go on a trip so I'm not stranded without clothes, but I almost always check it on the way back. It gets too heavy with my 16,000 t-shirts from Soggy Dollar and Jolly Dog and all the other things I pick up along the way, so I always check it.

I think I am going to rethink that. It should help that I am probably going to be too poor this next trip to buy any souvenirs.

The bags arrived last night at 10:30 PM. I was too tired to unpack, but they all showed up and appeared to be in order.

One note, too, about carry on. The gate agents in St. Thomas were taking many people's bags away from them, forcing them to check at the gate. Almost everyone with a rolling bag had their gear taken from them at the gate. They were making people put their bags in that size checker thing and if the whole thing didn't fit all the way in then the bag got taken. There were some upset people. I'm not sure why they were doing this, as the plane was huge and there was plenty of storage space.

PAGirl brings up a good point too. I always pack a swimsuit, a change of clothes, and my snorkel and mask into my carry on in case the bags are lost on the way down.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

We saw the bolded in San Juan in March. By the time we boarded, it stopped. This was on American and I was surprised how heavy handed/strict they were being.

Becky was it the gate agents or TSA? When we left St. Thomas on Wednesday the TSA was setting up a table to re check the carry on bags. We were lucky to board first and missed the mess.
It seems like TSA is doing the random gate checks again at several locations.

Welcome back! I guess its better to have misplaced luggage going home rather then arriving.

Last year we had connected in San Juan and when we landed in St. Thomas only 1 out of the 2 pieces we had arrived. Of course it was the bag with our toiletries and shoes we got (the other one had our clothes.) So when we arrived at the Westin we were able to freshen up and take showers but had to wear the same clothes. Luckily our luggage arrived later that evening.

Can't wait for your trip report!!

you all know that there are only two kinds of luggage carry-on and lost ! Unfortunately, for extended trips especially with dive gear there is no way around it.

Glad to hear you were able to get you're bags back and all intact

When I went in November, the gate agent in ATL checked my bag (which was probably pushing it just a little because of the front pockets) and put a yellow sticker that said "Carry On" on it. I was so glad she did that, because in FLL, you have to leave security to even get a cup of coffee and go back through. When I got back in the line, I noticed a guy at the front of the terminal putting everyone's bags in that thing and sending them to the counter to check them when they didn't fit. I knew mine wouldn't fit, but when he saw my yellow sticker, he just waved me through.
