We're here...live trip update!
Hi forumites! I wanted to drop you a line to let you know we made it! My family of 4, including a 4 year old boy and a 6 year old girl and my husband left Boston this morning in the weeeee hours of the morning (called the cab at 3:45am)....
Besides several "almost snafu's", we landed in St. Thomas at 1:50 ish....and made it to Bay house in Coral Bay by 4:30. We love Bay house! Perfect for my family! The kids and dad are in the pool as I type. It is dark here at 7:30 pm and the kids are loving it and runnin' on fumes at the same time.
Just a funny tidbit....not only did we wake up later than planned to start the day, the cab driver was LATE....then storrow drive was closed....CLOSED? WTH? got to Logan and there was a huge line, but by some christmas miracle we were able to go to the kiosk even when it wasn't working...?????? and away we went. Only to have a "medical emergency" on the plane where they were asking for doctors, paramedics, etc...and adminstered iv bags and asked for glucose meters.....thank GOd we didn't have to have an emergency landing....Think the lady was ok....but we got our car, made the car ferry and the kids have been swimmin' ever since.
Bay house...great find for the money....pool, overlooking the water, restaurants near by, store near by, the house has DSL! Washer dryer......lovin' it!
More tomorrow....must join in on the fun!

Thanks for the update! I will be reading your posts.
Question: It is dark at 7:30pm? Is that the Atlantic time zone 7:30? I am going to St Thomas in July and have been curious about it as when I look on the farmer almanac, I thought sunset was closer to 9pm---but I might have had it set to eastern standard time.
Hope you all have a blast!

Hi c3p1
Sunset times vary very little - the earliest it sets is approx 5:40pm in the winter months and the latest it sets is approx 7:00pm in the summer - very little change and also something to keep in mind is when it sets, it sets, meaning it is pitch black almost immediately.
We are on Atlantic Standard Time - same as Eastern during the summer and when Eastern set the clocks back in the fall we are 1 hour ahead as we do not.

yeah! What Pia said....it gets dark quite early here. I turned the outside lights on at like 6:30 last night and by 7:30 it was pitch black....
My 4 year old...who is typically a rooster anyways...is all messed up and was UP for good at 4am today. I convinced him to stay in bed with me "until he saw the 5 on the clock"...and here we are. I am watching the sun come up, the roosters crow.....and about to make my dunkin donuts coffee! LOL....ahhhhh......
Pia...what time is the beach bar gathering? Maybe we could make it!

Thank you for the sunset explanation!
I am sorry you have to get up so early, but I hope it can be made up with great day and beach bar!
Enjoy your vacation!
