New to forum and USVI

Post by c3p1 »

Hi all,
First thank you all for having such a wealth of information available! I have read so many pages here and I finally decided to join the group. I realize most of you travel to St. John. We are taking our first trip to USVI and heading to St.Thomas. We plan to visit St John at least once. I have to say after reading all of your trip reports, St John sounds awesome and we may go over more than once! Though still looking forward to St. Thomas!

I look forward to Friday for the TGIF picture of the day and now the TGIS plate of the day! The trip reports and pictures have been awesome!

The purpose of this is to say thank you and slightly introduce myself as I am working through a couple questions I will be asking for feedback on in the near future. Oh, and to see if my ticker works! Still working on the avatar.

Welcome Paul! Where are you staying on St. Thomas? There are a few of us that have stayed on STT and can help with questions you may have.

Hi Paul- We are also playing with the idea of visiting St Thomas in late '09 or summer '10...

I'm looking forward to your posts...

I'm currently browsing some villas near Mohagany Run and Peterborg, any ideas where you might stay when you are there?

Cheers.

Sherban. Mahogany Run is a nice gated community. We stayed there in a huge villa 2 times with friends.

How many are going with you because I have some links for some pretty nice places on STT.

We're going in may and staying at Sapphire again. This will be our 4th time there. It's just myself and husband this time, so far.

First 3 nights will be on STJ. I'm currently working on that.

Welcome Paul to the Forum! As you've already discovered you'll find a wealth of information here from alot of really great people who are so willing to help any way they can.
You're gonna love the Virgin Islands. We stayed a night on STT at Secret Harbour Beach Resort but have spent 2 trips on STJ....& going again to STJ in November.
Looking forward to your impressions & experiences.
Enjoy your planning & welcome again!

Wow! Thank you all for the messages.
My wife and 2 daughters (their first names start with C) and I (Paul--thus C3P1) are staying in a condo at Sapphire beach. We rented a place via vbro (another first). We were initially looking at going to the Cayman Islands and it was really at the upper of what we were willing to spend. We found a condo on St Thomas for $800 less a week. We noticed the condo was open 2 night prior to our arrival, we played with airfare and then wound up getting the 2 extra nights which was paid for by saving on airfare for leaving on a Thursday vs a Saturday. That is when you know things are right!

I will not be able to match the talented trip report writers here, but will give it a go and will make sure I have pictures to share!

Our only other Caribbean experience has been Cozumel (3 times), and we have been to Hawaii a couple of times.

Welcome Paul and the 3C's. Sounds like you've done a bit of island traveling and it will be interesting to hear your comparisons. Enjoy all your planning for St. Thomas and St. John. I'm new to posting also, and I just got my avatar figured out today.

Boston Mike,
I am now glad I have read all that I did before posting as I think I know how to "whip out the noodle and do what I need to do" and NOT get arrested!
