Sahara dust?
Sahara dust?
It is super hazy here today, we can barely see St. Thomas from Caneel. It is hotter too. Is the sahara dust back maybe?
It's still a beautiful day in paradise!

Sahara Dust -- Yes -- good satellite coverage at www.weathercarib.com
Remember it keeps the Atlantic Ocean temperature lower and as a dryer air mass is a tropical storm inhibitor so other than the reduced visibility it is a welcome weather pattern.

I second Exit Zero. Sahara Dust typically means less convection and generally better weather. I will take nice weather over a prettier horizon!Exit Zero wrote:Sahara Dust -- Yes -- good satellite coverage at www.weathercarib.com

On the Cruz Bay web cam and the Chocolate Hole web cam it looks pretty bad.
For some reason, the Soggy Dollar web cam looks fine. In fact, I wish I were there right now.
Has anyone else noticed that the two St. John web cams have been looking darker for the last week or so? Even during the mid part of the afternoon, but the Soggy Dollar web cam always seems to look bright and sunny.

It seems a little better today. It is definitely the sahara dust, it is aggravating my alleriges.
We had an amazing sunset sail last night. Hazy, hard to see the islands, but the water was so calm and we had the whole front of the boat to ourselves. I discovered a property that looks like it could be Rock Monster II being built up above (I think) Denis Bay. I took some pictures and will show you when I am home.
Leaving the island in 45 minutes. Boo.
