Ready made lunches
Morning,
so now that our upcoming trip is getting closer I want to get all my info together.
We are about to start so home renovations so that is going to take up some of my presious pre trip time.
i remember reading of a few places you can get ready made sandwiches to take to the beach, but can't remember where it is.
I thought this would be a good idea for our first day at the beach. Don't want to waste bech time on the first full day.
I thought I read that Baked in the sun is a good place but don't know where it is.
thanks for the help.

Dolphin and Starfish Markets have take out food.
I would imagine quite a few restaurants would pack up some sandwhiches, not to mention other items on their menus as well. It might be a good idea to call ahead. Chilly Billy's would probably be a safe bet- their food is very inexpensive and they have a nice selection. Here's their link:

There is a deli in Mongoose Junction that makes sandwiches to-go. It has salads to-go and good cookies too. We never tried the sandwiches, but many people have mentioned in their trip reports that they loved the food there.
There is a deli upstairs in the shopping center where Starfish is located. We tried something from there that was good - can't remember, but I think it was cookies or muffins. Don't remember if they have sandwiches.
We got lunchmeat and some nice bread from Starfish to make our own sandwiches at the villa to take to the beach. Not as interesting as from the deli, but their ham and turkey was fine. Starfish also had prepared food which we tried. Everything was good - not outstanding, but good. We always pick up something pre-made at Starfish on our first night to have at the villa on our travel day. We might have to try the new BBQ place that is near Starfish this time.

Deli Grotto in Mongoose makes amazing and huge sandwiches. A couple could easily split one. They also had yummy sides like brocoli slaw/salad and others that were unique and tasty. As B&J mentioned their baked goods are to die for!
Another good place for ready made food is Dolphin, they make decent, affordable sandwiches.

We stayed in Chocolate Hole in January which is very close to Baked in the Sun. We attempted 3 times to get sandwiches at Baked in The Sun because we heard great things about it but it was so crowded the line went to or out the door. It must be wonderful for people to wait in lines like that. They only had 2 girls working the counter.
My husband will not wait in line for anything so we went to Deli Grotto and it was never that busy, and they make the best and biggest sandwiches, yes you can share. Get a giant chocolate chip cookie, they are delish! You can also get drinks, chips, salads, etc. I am sure you can even call ahead but we really dont think too much on vacation.

On the second floor of the Marketplace is Satyamuna-organic and east Indian food-sort of the second coming of Luscious Licks. Anyway good falafel sandwiches and wraps.
My favorite food for the beach though is Hercules (across from Mixology) pates, sometimes even conch on Thursday. Weekdays only. Some women were also selling them one Saturday at the crossroads in Coral Bay. Equally good with a great home made hot sauce.
