on island Parenting tip #1

Post by flip-flop »

Check both kids, even the 7 yo one, to make sure they have shoes on before leaving the house. Our plan was to hit Maho today but we were thwarted by a bike "race" (a whole other crazy I don't understand) so instead we headed to salt pond.

As mini opened her car door she says, "mama I think I forgot something." No shoes, no matter what the country song says, can be a problem. But we are certifiable, so my hubby put his 60 lb daughter on his shoulders and booked it down to the beach. Not too bad. Belly Flop and I took up the rear. Salt Pond wad lovely, the walk back up was a bit&&$h!

We headed to the tourist trap for lunch and two drink right, keep lefts to recover.

We made it back to the house for nap and pool time! What a way to pace yourself on day 1 ;-)

Way to go Flip Flop!! Sometimes you just have to make 'lemonade' with the lemons that come your way. Talk to you sometime tonight.

Oh my lands that makes me laugh! Going down, ok, but coming back up with a 7 year old on my back just wouldn't happen, but I guarantee my husband would try it!!

OMG! He gets Dad of the year award.

We did a short hike yesterday and Husband carried a 42 pounder up the side of the mountain and I thought for sure he would pass out.

Thankfully, the beer in his pocket refreshed him once they reached the top.

I can SO see this happening with our kids! Thanks for the heads-up! I'll definitely add "shoe check" to the departure checklist :)

60lbs...wow. My back can't take the 7 year old anymore. I'd have left the kid in the jeep, windows cracked of course, and told her to count to a billion.

... drive to Little Lameshur and make her walk through the sand burrs barefoot!

Why are parents so OCD? Because they've learned!
