Luna Vista Deja Vu Tour Day 2

Post by jimg20 »

Day 2 June 16

We tried to sleep in but I woke up at dawn. When I get here I have that “last day of school” feeling. Who can sleep through that? It was cloudy and there wasn’t much of a sunrise to see, but I tried to capture it anyway.

We had bacon, eggs and biscuits for breakfast in the villa. The bacon came from home and the rest from Starfish. There’s still no good way to bring your own $2 box of eggs. Plan on about $4 per dozen. We cleaned the kitchen up and got organized. We thought we would check out Coral Bay and try Vie’s for the first time. We drove south from Coral Bay first noting that gas was $3.04 and took a look around. They were working on power lines and the road is narrowed to one lane from time to time and place to place. We finally go to Vie’s about 11:30 and could not find a place to park. We were hoping to meet up with Teragram, but we missed the connection. Due to the parking and threatening weather, we went to Skinny Legs for a snack and adult beverage. While there, a downpour started. After the rain let up we were going to try a North Shore beach. We thought we could do Maho but heard some distant thunder. We walked out on the beach and waited to see if it would pass. There was another couple there from Arkansas. We visited about our trips and invited them to the Beach Bar Sunday. Instead of getting further away the thunder got closer. Let’s try another spot. The rain was stopping at Hawksnest so we waited there – until the next clap of thunder about 3 minutes later.

Let’s head to Cruz Bay and hang out with Ruth. We talked, shopped, and visited Low Key. We signed up for some dives, discussed buying new equipment, and bought a few things. We have our first night dive set for Saturday night with Mr. Gromit and Mr Flip-Flop. After another adult beverage at the BB and a chat with Capt. John Brandi, it cleared enough to give Hawksnest another try. We got in the water after 4 pm – finally. Capt. Brandi commented on how unusual it is to get a thunder storm here on STJ.

After a little snorkel time it was supper time in the villa. We began using the meat that we brought in from home. Pasta with meat sauce and salad were on the menu.

Although this was the worst day we’ve ever had on STJ, it was still great.

Tomorrow it’s off to Low Key and a two tank dive.

The bad weather you're having on STJ is a lot better than the weather we've been having here in New England! Have a blast!
