St John People Are THE BEST!!

Post by Diana2 »

I just had to tell you guys about our experience last night at La Plancha Del Mar. We went for an early dinner with our daughter, SIL and granddaughter (4 1/2). At the table next to us was a group of local women having what looked like a wedding shower for one of the group. After our little Margo had finished her pizza (which they specially prepared for her with no cheese please), she noticed that the ladies had little paper umbrellas on their table and she asked me if she could have one too. I assumed that they were umbrellas that were drink umbrellas so I walked up to the bar and asked if I could have one for her. They said that they weren't drink umbrellas but he was sure if I asked the ladies at the table they wouldn't mind letting her have one. They were so nice and give us 2. Then as we were leaving they gave us all of them!! My granddaughter was THRILLED! She's been playing with them since she got up this AM. That's what St. John people are like and why I love love love this place!

See you the beach on Saturday, Flip Flop. I'll be wearing a green bathing suit with BIG orange hibiscus on it. You can't miss me.

I worried prior to my first trip with kids (well KID at the time) about how accommodating the island would be. Turned out everyone has been so overwhelmingly kind to my kids!

See you Saturday! Just finished online check-in.

I'll be the one with two kids in tow. Belly Flop has an awesome green sun hat. You can't miss him!

Hi Girls

Hubby and I will be at the beach Saturday, probably Maho although it might be Honeymoon, so I was wondering where you might be - if Maho or Honeymoon I'll look for you :)

Pia

Our 3.5 year old has been to STJ three times and every island experience was wonderful.

Restaurant visits were so enjoyable because the staff at all the places we visited seemend to enjoy seeing a baby/toddler/little kid.

I think travelling with a child leads to interactions you might not otherwise would have.

We ate lunch at Uncle Joe's when our son was 4.5 months old. I arrived before everyone else and asked if it was ok to still down at a large table and feed (nurse) our son.

The lady behind the counter came over to us and we had a conversation about the care and feeding of infants. We found each other's cultural differences very interesting.

Had I not had a child with me, that interaction wouldn't have taken place.

Hey Pia -- Hopefully you won;t mind meeting me too!!

We will either be at Maho or Francis on Saturday (at least that's the plan!)

Looking forward to meeting you.

And yes, Flip better have her ass packed -- we had to have a little intervention last night on the phone. I talked her down from packing 10 of the EXACT SAME ITEM and it wasn't underwear...

Happy to say I think I talked her off the ledge...

:) :) :)

It will be fun to meet and if we do actually get to a beach it will be either of the two but seeing how the skeeters are right now :( it might be Honeymoon.

I'm thinking of going to jump in Maho (I'm done with laundry, ironing, vacuming, watering......) so I'll let you know (if I go) how Maho is skeeter wise

Maho is my favorite beach, so laid back and not crowded, but I get eaten alive every time I'm there. I have to admit it doesn't stop me from going tho.

OK, it wasn't bad at all although I swam for most of my time there.

I was thinking it might be alot worse but I did end up using bug spray for the short time I sat out but it was close to "bug thirty" (3:30pm on is "bug thirty" on most beaches :))

Do take bug spray with you - so might see you there Sat.

Happy travels :)

Maho may be too buggy. Skeeters are out in full force. We were at Oppenheimer/Gibney today it was wonderful. Pia, can you meet us there? Someone was there with her dog for part of the day.

We went way to the right and had the place to ourselves for the whole day (9:30 til around 4). What do you think?

OOPS! We went way to the LEFT not right at Gibney today. Finally the weather wss great today. It was a perfect beach day. We snorkeled way to the right side and found the coral and fans beautiful over that way (Thanks to liamsaunt for the tip of snorkeling that area). The hidden beach is pretty cool too.

Flip Flop, I left you a message on your cell phone. Call me back at the house or on my cell. I've got a medical emergency going on at home in Michigan with my Mom so I won't be at the beach this AM after all. My daughter (jumbiegirl), and granddaughter Margo and others probably will be going down to Maho without me. Look for Margo in her pink UV suit and Jumbiegirl in a turquise suit. Hope to meet you later.
