Hows the weather lookin next week?

Post by star2515 »

This newbie leaves on Sat. for her first trip to STJ and have enjoyed learning all about the island from the regulars on this forum. I was just wondering if I should believe weather.com that it's going to be rainy everyday next week??

Hi, welcome to the forum! What part of NC?

I am not a weather expert, but let's just say I am going to be there all next week and looking at weather.com, it doesn't worry me much. (I'm not going to say I am not worried at all, then it will RAIN! )

I would rather see zero chance, but that doesn't happen often. 30 percent chance of rain is NOTHING. It could rain for 30 minutes and stop. And be bright sun 30 minutes later. In fact, you should expect it might rain every day somewhere on the island...many times it happens at night.

The 60 percent- I wouldn't worry too much about that either as that is so much later in the week. And even a 60 percent forecast isn't the end of the world.

I would say, don't worry. I'm basically not. I would have been my first time though!

I was done there a few weeks ago and weather.com always said at least 30 percent chance of rain. Sometimes 70 percent. I think we had one quickie and that was about it.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy St. John no matter what the weather brings you.

Thanks guys, I know I can’t change the weather, so why worry about it. But it’s always nice not to have to worry about rain either.

How in the hell did I know she was going to come back with that one.

What happens on St. John stays on St. John. Just leave it out of the trip reports.

The best weather site for the VI is www.weathercarib.com -- many of the bigger , more general sites include Puerto Rico or use it as their primary predictive source.
If it doesn't have a name and you don't have to shovel it - it's just a rain squall.
