Morgans Mango

Post by liamsaunt »

has anyone been recently? I was looking at the menu in our villa book and some of the stuff sounds pretty good. I had a crummy experience ast time we went--some drunk dude dumped a mojito down my shirt at the bar and the fish was not fresh. But that was years ago and I suppose I could give them another chance?

Thoughts? I am feeling too lazy too cook and la tapa and rhumblines are closed tonight.

Ron and I ate there in May (our very first time). We really enjoyed it. I had a chicken dish (huge) and I'm sure Ron had some kind of fish. I also think VickiH was just there so hopefully she'll chime in. I love food but I'm not good at the details.

It was great in June of 2008. I love pretty much any fish with their chimmy churry...though it was a little different than usual last time (it had red pepper, which I don't love).

They are not serving the black beans that used to come with most every dish or at least the 1/2 Citrus Chicken. After four or five visits, I was just starting to like them. It's Ointo Beans now and they make me fart really bad.

We have been going there regularly for years and IMHO I have found the quality of the experience to be going steadily downhill.

I love the location and the look of the place but the quality of the food was not as good when we were there last December.

The place gives off a good impression but can leave guests wanting more in the food department.

We took the in laws there because they thought the menu looked promising but they rated it lowest out of all the places they ate on island that week.

It's pretty much off our list from now on unless someone we're with really wants to go.

I really wish they'd work on their menu becuase we'd really love to go back.

I totally agree with Gromit. We've always loved Morgan's but had a very bad meal and service in March when we were there and don't plan to go back this visit. We loved La Plancha del Mar on the other hand.

Last visit was on Valnetine's Day 2009. Had an excellent meal and service was wonderful. They were packed due to the holiday yet still made our party of 6 appreciate the evening meal.

We go each year and while I'd rather have Zozo's, Morgan's has delivered a consistent meal at a relative "value".

this will further confuse, I used to really dislike the place. felt it was overpriced and just not that good.

then we went back over thanksgiving and really had a great meal-there were 8 of us and all left happy. the prices seemed much more reasonable.

We just ate there in May. I had the Citrus Chicken and it was awesome. The wife had some type of salad and she loved it.

Give it a whirl.

Hi, 9 of us went to Morgan's for dinner this past March and I was not impressed with the food at all. I would probably give it another try but to me it was very average at best. Perhaps more suited for lunch than dinner.

Had a better meal @ Sheila's Hot Pot across from STJ Spice...try it out if you get the chance!

You're on-island now? If so, have an awesome time! :)

Enjoy,
Kathy

We ate there in May of 2008 and liked it a lot. My wife liked Morgan's Mango the best. I thought it was really good, but the Balcony was better.

Waterguy....that's a funny story. I love "real" people who treat everyone equally as nice regardless of who they are. I tend to be that way, but I'm not sure everyone perceives it as nice....heheheheheee!

Morgan's Mango always seems to be our last night meal. We went in April and I can say with confidence that all six of us enjoyed our dinner very much but don't ask me what I had. I have a tendancy to overachieve that last night.

We used to go when our 12 year old was very little (toddler) and sit at the round couch because she could play without bothering other diners. At that time I remember the food as being very good. In the past few years I know they changed ownership and we didn't get the same vibe from the place. Of course, we're looking for child friendly places and found a few others we enjoy more. :D

Liamsaunt, please let us know what you thought if you tried it for dinner.
Hoping for a USVI ticker in 2013!
