Can I still be a member of the forum?
My family had our best trip in 18 years when we went to St. John in March. Having said that and being a member of the forum for about 5 months I feel awkward for traveling to Hawaii for my next vacation. Not only am I not going to St. John but I will be on a Cruise ship. Hope I haven't offended anyone.

You don't have to apologize to anyone for your vacation choice...
Honolulu is a bustling city..Waikiki Beach was very disappointing..very crowded. Pearl Harbor is a must-see. We did an awesome Sunset Dinner Cruise past Diamond Head . Try to get to the North Shore area. That's where all of the surfing is and that side of Oahu is nice.

Well truth be told everything we do including our trips to St John has/is been/being paid for on a Royal Caribbean credit card. And you can bet we will enjoy the heck out of the "free" cruise when we cash in those points. Enjoy your vacation my friend no matter where you go. Or as one of those commercials say "get out there". Just send me the links to the photos when you get back. Have a great time.

I second BevM on the North Shore; it's very laid back and a completely different vibe from Honolulu/Waikiki. I personally liked Waikiki too, but I'm from a tiny town, so I like the craziness of a tourist area. Depending on when you're cruising the North Shore can be wild waves. We were there in February a couple years ago and they were having surf competitions-very fun to watch.
Cruising is a fun way to see a lot of different places and economically right now they're running great sales on a lot of cruises. The prices are fantastic.
Enjoy!

We will be staying in April. We will be spending two days on Waikiki before the cruise. We will definitley go their. We also like Dukes Canoe Club.Berlingirl wrote:What time of the year are you traveling? Recommend just stopping by the Mai Tai bar at the Royal Hawaiian on Waikiki beach. It's the original Mai Tai bar of Oahu. Beautiful location.
