I've sealed it up. I had to cut my wife off with vague promises of needing to leave empty space for anything 'extra' we might need to pack for the shipment home!
Anyway, for those interested in details:

w/ insurance $48 and change
I'll drop it off this afternoon, and like Flip-Flop, I'm playing it safe and shipping two full weeks ahead of time.

Unless you have huge fins or something you might want to look into the USPS flat-rate boxes next time. I just sent a large flat-rate box for $13.50. Insurance would have been $2.25 extra I think. It weighed 18 lbs.

My fins are 24" long...a standard full-foot fin, and my wife's are 22" long due to the smaller feet! Those fins alone made the flat-rate packaging a non-option. This is way better than the trip to Hawaii 5 years ago when I packed a huge duffel bag that was mostly fins, masks, snorkels, and sunscreen! We carried WAY too much stuff on that trip. You should have seen me trying to first get all our bags in the small little Mustang convertible on Maui, and THEN in the even smaller Jeep Wrangler on Kauai. I was using the straps from the duffel bags to tie the crap to the roll bars!

Unless they are special fins, you might consider next time renting your fins on STJ. I say this for the benefit of others considering shipping large fins - don't forget you will need room in your luggage to take them home, or, if you plan on shipping them back, save the box they arrive in - boxes are hard to find at the PO and they are sometimes totally out of boxes including flat rate ones.

I guess they're nothing "special" except that they're the ones I've used for the last 5 years or so wherever we've gone snorkeling. They are full-size scuba fins, so if you're using the shorter travel-snorkel fins you won't have the problem I did.
By the way, inside my box is a preprinted address label AND a roll of packing tape to put it all back in the box it went down in!
I also just dropped off the box at the PO closest to my office. I wish I had gone to my local one near my home because these folks were pretty incompetent and some borderline certifiable! Of course they want to know if you're shipping liquids, flammables, etc....NOOoooo (fingers crossed due to the sunscreen and mosquito repellent)...just snorkel gear, books, collapsible cooler, etc. To which she answered.."you'd think you could just buy that stuff down there, right?"
