STJ Prep Fully Underway
I hear ya! My husband wears size 14 shoes so two pairs of chaco flip flops adds significant weight and take up too much room. His fins almost need a bag of their own.liamsaunt wrote:I finally started packing tonight. I have so much crap, it is ridiculous. I am proud that I fit all the "products" like sunblock, mega bug spray, etc. into one gallon sized ziploc. Yes, we are checking luggage.![]()
Why do John's clothes take up five times the space of mine? ARGH. I think it's time to visit the USAir site to find out how much $$ it's going to cost to check all this stuff. Maybe that will help me pare things down more.

Intervention Time for you Gromit: 2 + 2 + 1 = FIVE PAIRS OF SHOES !!! Put down the shoe tree slowly and back away from the luggage!
j/k
I told my wife she only got to bring two pair with us, so what did she do....went and spent about $100 on SwitchFlops with a multitude of different strap designs. Have any of you seen these? It's a pair of black flip flops with velcro on the straps so that you can 'apply' decorative straps to them....sorta like "pimpin' your flops"
Oh well, at least she did technically agree to bring 2 pairs. BTW, the SwitchFlops aren't meant for hiking, beaching, etc. Those will be for Beach Bar, dinners out, etc.
Yeah... flipper is LYING HER ASS OFF. She probably has a WHOLE suitcase filled with flip flops. That's the reason she hasn't packed any clothes, she's been too busy packing flip flops!!
I'm not judging... I'm just sayin....
Excuse me... does anyone have any clean towels?

*Another fine scatterbrained production
Me neither!flip-flop wrote:SINGLE FREAKING DIGITS. That's all I have to say!
No, I am still not packed.
Going often enough has made me a worse procrastinator! There is no consequence to forgetting anything.
(And yes, before I get a PM, I do realize this goes into the "Gee, Really Hard Problem to Have" file.)

Sorry, Gromit, I just couldn't help myself since your affliction hits so close to home!
We've actually had arguments over the number of shoes packed in our luggage before, because it was causing weight issues with the bags. There are places that do require multiple footwear options (Vegas comes to mind, as do other metropolitan areas like NYC, DC, etc.), but I normally just smile and make polite suggestions before quickly ducking behind the door!

BTW....
I know there's a big meet-n-greet planned on the 21st, but has anyone talked about meeting again on the 28th? I'm upset we'll miss the first one by just 3 days, but would make a point to get there on another evening as long as it was after the 24th!
It took me YEARS to get Hubs in flip flops. (Now I can't get him in anything else.) Pre-flop, he wore a certain style of Sperry boat shoe/sneaker type shoe.KTinTX wrote:Sorry, Gromit, I just couldn't help myself since your affliction hits so close to home!

These things were huge. Winter trips required going-down shoes, the "dirty" Sperry's for day, the "not so dirty" Sperry's for night, and a pair of fisherman sandals for the times we went to nicer restaurants.
that is 4 pairs of size 14s! Seriously, his shoes weighed at least 10 pounds.
