Me too. We're going to try to make the 21st gathering at the beach bar. It should be post-nap so he should be happy. Though it will also be post-cross island car ride so he may be carsick.

I had my toes done and my hair cut this AM for the occasion.

Well, we are going carry-on only, so you're not too far off! The mail-down is just to avoid checking a bag.

Thank you for mentioning the water bottles. I had bought two insulated water bottles about 2 months ago and they have been hiding in the cabinet! Now I remembered that I'm supposed to pack them!

I know everyone is doing a get-together on the 21st, but is anyone planning anything for the 28th?

;-) Without kids I think I go make it with a backpack! Just kidding.

You seem to have it all covered but I don't see a neat sheet on the list. A must for some, not necessarily for me anymore. I threw in a plastic durable water bottle and some crystal light and mini versions of laundry stuff (my kids have SUPER sensitive skin so I try to use the same detergent, dryer sheets etc for them) and a stain stick. KIDS again, but as a grown up I sometimes need it too![/quote]

Jumbie Girl - I see you're from Holland, MI. I'm from Muskegon. Our beaches in MI are beautiful, but STJ sure holds a lot of great memories for us too. Michigan is still on the cool side this week. I just bought a great beach bag today in Grand Haven that says "Lake Michigan - Unsalted". It is caribbean blue. I can't wait to take it on my next trip to the VI's. Hopefully next Spring! For now the best I can do is play my Kenny Chesney music while I float in the pool. Painkillers still taste good in Michigan!

Progress Report: Kids are packed. I repeat, Kids are packed and it all fit in one bag. Carry-on (with a swimsuit, change of clothes, pjs and toiletries for each of us) is also compelte.

Now on to the hard part, thinning the pile o crap that I have set aside for me!

Well my piles are bigger LOL!

OMG! We are single digits!!!

Seriously, the little man is pretty much packed. I have started on the toiletry bag. We mostly do carry-on. It's the only bag we check. My box is ready to be shipped. My bikini's are all set and that's the most important thing anyway right? Ha-ha.

Someone needs to light a fire under my a$$!

OMG! We are single digits!!! Think I'll go do flip-flop selection now...

I finally started packing tonight. I have so much crap, it is ridiculous. I am proud that I fit all the "products" like sunblock, mega bug spray, etc. into one gallon sized ziploc. Yes, we are checking luggage.

Why do John's clothes take up five times the space of mine? ARGH. I think it's time to visit the USAir site to find out how much $$ it's going to cost to check all this stuff. Maybe that will help me pare things down more.

Speaking of getting ready, we completed all our purchases this past weekend. We made sure the purchases were balanced and equitable between us.

Anita's purchases: 2 sundresses, 2 bikinis, 1 beach cover-up and 1 pair of sandals.

Bob's purchase: 1 Red Sox cap.

Balanced

Flip flop- I remember when you had to buy that rashguard! But the little belly is soooo cute! Not to mention the perfect photo to show his friends/potential dates in fifteen years. :)

Bob & Anita- Sounds perfectly proportionate to me!

I am also proud to report that I have made my FIRST CUT for clothing and that technically everything will fit into my checked bag and my carry on. Of course I'm not so sure that they would meet the weight requirements!! That's step #2.

I'm hoping to 'thin the herd' a bit on the clothing.

I always start witha list which helps keep me focused but STILL....

But come hell or high water I am only bringing two pairs of keens and two pairs of flip flops plus whatever shoes I wear on the plane.

It's also amazing how much room the little boxes of Jell-O take up!! Of course that happens when you pack 12 boxes of the stuff!!8)
*Another fine scatterbrained production
