Every year for the past 9 we have checked the weather reports before our visits (In July) and seen 30% chance of rain every day. We realize this means BEAUTIFUL weather with a wonderful downpour once a day. Well, we arrive next Monday and I am seeing 60% chance of rain all week. I'm in a panic...does that usually mean it will rain all day? I can't imagine! Please someone, give me some hope of sunshine!!!
Our last trip in 2007 had the same forecast. BUT it only rained once the entire week we were there and it was at night while we slept...I live on the East Coast where every day in the summer theres a "chance of rain"...I say don't worry and enjoy your trip...
I am arriving Tues. and I'd rather see a report of clear skys, but I've also found the reports to be pretty meaningless, unless there is a storm brewing.
You can't do anything about it so forget about it..If it rains stay at the villa and play games or read. Chances are if it does rain it will be at night anyway. Worry about the things you have control over, not the weather..Now relax and go have some fun!
It probably won't rain all day unless there is a tropical wave coming through. I remember one year we were on St. John for 21 days and three waves in a row came through! It rained a LOT! But, we still had some sunny days, and we spent the rainy times hanging out at the villa, reading, playing games, napping, etc. It was a still a great vacation. At least I didn't get much of a sunburn!
We do try and pick houses that have inviting setups for those inevitable rainy days--a deep covered or screened in porch, for example.
We leave Thursday. Maybe I'll see you on the island!
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Don't worry....even when it rains it is still better than being at home. Plus that is still a far way out....you can never trust the weathergirl (hey, I just ripped on myself )
Since you chimed in here, I have a question. What does the 60% mean? I've been told that it means that on days when these conditions happen that 60% of the area will see rain, and I've been told that it means it rains on 60% of those days.

Can we have a little expert advise on this?
Thanks
JIM
It means that it will rain 60% of the time when those conditions are present.
