CPTN & CREW DAY 2

Post by cptnkirk »

Up with the roosters again slept like a log last night feeling way better than the previous morning. The key for me is to stop drinking by about 5 or 6 and I wake up feeling good. Well since the skeeters won’t let me wake up on the porch with the roosters. I’ll make do and wake up with my forum buddies just like at home in the morning’s. I read about St John while on St John now that is addiction but a good one. Andy rolls out and the girls follow by 8. Whip up some breakfast and discus our plan of attack for the killer mosquitoes.

Our original plan was to head south but the skeeters were bad at Haulouver so we figured they might be bad on a south beach too. So I think wind. What is the most exposed beach on the north shore. That would be Cinnamon plus it has a ton of real estate from the tree line to the water. Well we head out but not before stopping at Pine Peace for some DEEP WOODS OFF! Those suckers weren’t phased by the regular stuff.

We arrive at Cinnamon and unload our stuff , you guessed it we are swarmed and I believe they would like to take us to there leader for a sacrifice. I take off while everyone else showers in 100% deet. I walk fast occasionally stopping to swat them off my shoulders. As I get close to the old building on the beach there are a couple of workers burning some leaf litter they had raked up, well I stood in the smoke and that helped until the rest of the gang caught up.

We hit the beach and are hit by at least a 20 mile an hour cross wind. This could work there is no way those suckers can navigate in this wind can they . Well we pick a little place were the wind is kickin right up to the tree line and set up shop. An occasional skeeter finds us but we can live with this. We head out to the waters edge in the full force of the wind and not a skeeter on us for the day as long as we were out there. WOO HOO we defeated the skeeters at least for now . We enjoy the day listening to tunes and chattin it up
while getting our party on. Since we have been in the full sun for a few hours we decide it’s better to leave before we become lobsters. Head out, we’re really not looking forward to the walk, we’re raped again, getting used to it, stop by Pine Peace for some beer.

Back at the villa safe and sound we whip up some grub and decide to give the pool a try. The deep woods off helped quite a bit at the villa. Andy and I just stayed in the water most of the time, taking turns bonking each other on the head as they landed. Teamwork! take that you blood thirsty little @#&^%$. We just relax and listen to tunes and let the sun roll across the sky and all is good. Decide to take a little nap before the BB gathering. Oh crap It’s almost six o’clock when we wake up gotta hurry get a shower or we may miss it.

Park at Denzel’s and head to the BB taking the beach route. Meanwhile the ferry is pulling out and while doing so is crushing a couple dingys that were tied to the dock. I yell at the captain and waive my hands and point to the dock. My honey hits me as I’m doing something wrong. Hey if someone was crushing my dingy I’d want someone to say something . As the ferry leaves someone’s motor is at a 45, bet he was none to happy when he returned to go back home. We arrive and I’m looking all around and the first person I notice is Brenda. Go up and introduce ourselves to her and everyone else. Lots of forum peeps you know who ya are, if I leave someone out I will feel bad. So everyone’s chattin and Sunformysoul introduces herself and hands me a tub of Jello Shots, my kind of girl I tellya. It starts to rain and we head for shelter and I have a nice chat with the other Kirk from OHIO. The girls do the chicken dance to try to entice Joshie out to no avail. We end up over at High Tide, can’t be sure think that was the name of the place and more chattin and lots of laughin. I’m huggin Nicole for a pic like I’ve known her for years funny how the forum does that to people. Brenda notices a pole and something just came over me and I do an impromptu pole dance . I suck at pole dancing but that was my first ever attempt . If I had ha Brickhouse playing watch out I may have lit the place up. I did earn a dollar I think it was more out of pity.
All good things must end and we say our goodbyes . Heading down the street with Brenda and MR MRS Captain JAY they go to Rhumblines we keep walking. Andy says hey anyone hungry and we all say yea as it seems to have slipped our minds in having all that fun. We decide on Woodys and order a round of Presedentes and 3 of those greasy Cheeseburgers and a Spicy Blackened Chicken sandwich. Sit back sippin Presedentes enjoying the show. The food comes out in no time. We all tear in and Honey says AUUGGHHH this is Fish. We get the waitress and she apologizes and says she will get the chicken right out. I look at the waitress and say hey hon if your throwin that away I’ll take it home. She’s like no problem and wraps it up for me. WOO HOO free Blackened MAHI MAHI tomorrow. Doesn’t take a whole lot to get this cheapass excited when it comes to saving some change. Chicken comes out really quik, another round of Presedentes and were off to the villa. Sleep soon follows, think we may have made it to 10 tonight , lucky we took that nap earlier. Gawd we’re getting OLD.

Sounds like a great day. Great pictures.

Your skeeter stories bring back memories or our trip in 2003 after the great rains. Francis was the worst - not sure we'll ever get the nerve to go back.

Wow - you made it to 10pm - that's great!

Great trip report, I feel like I just re-lived the BB  . It was definitely a lot of fun. It is funny how you meet some people from the forum and feel like you have known them a long time.

You guys are FANTASTIC people and we enjoyed getting to know you better on beach day too! Can't wait for the rest of your report :D .
Going "home" again October 26th!

Are you SURE you hadn't practiced that pole dance before? :D

Next time, I'll save you more jello shots to loosen you up!

I don't know which I like more: "let the sun roll across the sky" or "Hey if someone was crushing my dingy I’d want someone to say something..."
