Tipping at the Ferry....

Post by Pat »

:?: I'm confused....I thought the baggage fee was in lieu of tipping the handlers. At Cruz Bay, the handler came up to us and asked for $$$ saying that was his fee for placing bags on cart and rolling to the boat.
Do you tip the guys putting on and taking off, or no tip at all?? It got very expensive to tip both ends plus the trip back to STT. :?

If you use the porter (and you do not have to you just take your own bags to the ferry) then you do tip the him - the $2.00 per bag is not for him - not sure where it goes but it is not his.

We never use the porter at the ferry so we don't tip there use to before they started charging for bags.

If you use the porters tip them as others have noted the 2.00 per bag has nothing to do with them.

I'm not sure you'll want to tip the guys who THROW the bags on and off the boat. Never got the impression they were looking for tips.
