Thank you so much Minde for asking this question!! This is exactly what we're trying to do also. Gotta get back before next May...way too long to wait!

We're staying in Samuels Cottages next time. Not anything fancy, but we found last trip that we barely spent any time in the villa we were in.

In the off season, Private Homes for Private Vacations has some great deals for two people. Might be worth it to give Mary-Eileen a call.

You might also want to look at Harmony suites that are part of Maho Campground. My step daughter and husband spent the first couple of nights there, before they came on the boat a few years ago. They love to camp, and said this was a step up.

Check out Estate Lindholm. We are staying there in July. It is even prettier in person!

Samuels Cottage, Sailview and Cruz Views are all great suggestions. Of the three, it sounds like you might enjoy the Coral Bay vibe at Sailview. There are a lot of choices at the low end, especially September/October.

As for travel insurance, we only buy it if the loss would be big enough that we could not reschedule the trip. That's a different number for different people. Read the terms of the insurance to make certain you understand what losses are actually covered - you might be surprised. CSA (click in the left panel here!) seems to be one of the best.

Cheers, RickG

I had the same need, try to go cheap for a second trip each year. We just committed to Cruz Views in Novenber. Rick G had a good experience with it and we are also used to strange cats underfoot. Found a cheap airfare, so we are set.
