What we learned on our 2nd trip to STJ

Post by psufan »

1. The island is just as stunning the second time around.
2. The view from Sunnyledge is to die for.
3. Squids are cool!
4. Turtles are cool too! We saw so many that we didn't spend so much time looking at them by the end of our trip. Francis Bay seemd to be teaming with them for those that haven't seen any before, including one that was incredibly huge.
5. We definitely do not need a pool.
6. Forum people are a breed apart. We met alot of great people. Ruth, so nice to spend our 50th's together. Pia, Les glad we bumped into you on Maho our last day. Pia, did your MIT make it into the Panorama?
7. Panorama, the steel drum festival was well worth the trip into Cruz Bay our last day of vacation. Seeing 3rd through 6th graders playing the pan drums was icing on the cake of an awesome vacation.
8. Having a "legal" drink with your 18 yr old son at a bar is alot of fun.
9. Snorkeling the Indians was an experience, snorkeling the Caves was so-so.
10. We will always plan to take at least 9 days on any future trips. The extra 2 days really makes a difference. However, any day on STJ would be okay with me.

Trip report soon come, I hope. Re-entry has been a bear especially because we got home at 10PM Sunday and went back to work yesterday. I will have to try to pick the best pictures and try to figure out how to upload them into a trip report.

It was great seeing you at the Lime Inn! Glad to hear that you had a great trip. Look forward to your trip report. I will probably not get to write one anytime soon as we're dealing with a sick dog :(

Completely agree with everything on your list - even #8, which we experienced on STJ as well.

We will be staying longer then 7 days on STJ for the first time in our coming trip (16 days away). This time we'll be on STJ for 10 days, plus 1 day on STT.

On our 2nd trip to STJ we added a day on STT at the beginning to help make our STJ arrival day less hectic. Our last trip (3rd) we added a day on STT at the beginning and end to make both arrival and departure days much less stressful.

Even though adding a day on STT at the beginning and end of these trips helped extend the time on STJ by adding hours, you still only end up with 6 full days on the island, which never seems to be quite enough. We are so looking forward to spending 10 days on STJ this time, which will translate into 9 full days.
