In which way? The revenue?
I don't know about revenue but he meant more that they weren't good at following proper procedures...for (a made up) example, if a restaurant doesn't rotate inventory properly you end up with burgers that have been in the freezer too long and no longer taste good...they'd still be food-safe but have off flavors from being in the freezer for a long time. Or perhaps they make a habit of sticking cold fries back in the fryer for a few seconds instead of making fresh ones...a big no no at McD's. That sort of thing.

Cool, do they have wineries there? Anthony and I love a good domestic wine!

Aha - thanks Teresa - got it. We once bought a frozen pizza at Plaza Extra (rare event). Anyway, we bake it up one night, and as we start eating it we immediately start thinking that is doesn't taste right. So I grab the wrapper from the garbage to see just what is in this garbage...

Well the first thing I notice on the package is "Win a Trip to meet the Super Bowl Champion Ravens" - this is around 2004/5 - the Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2001! So I look at the expiration date, and it was like 2 years past! Talk about off-flavors!

hi layla-

there are plenty of other cheap eats options on st thomas and st john- local places with lotsa style!

from my own experience, most of the restaurants have affordable sandwiches ($6-$9) for lunch. there are 2 cheap bbq places on stj- candy's & uncle joes. donkey diner on st john in coral bay has good pizza on certain nights. skinny legs in coral bay has grill sandwiches for $6-$11- burgers, chicked, grilled cheese, etc.

there are many more options i just can't think of them right now.

forumites- help out the lady with cheap eats suggestions...

Layla,
Are you staying on St. Thomas or St. John? We can probably help you more if we know that.

Funny, I am now a food scientist at a pizza manufacturing plant. Pretty much all pizzas get a 6 to 12 month shelf-life...anything past that and they can get really nasty...and usually you don't even have to taste it, the smell alone is bad enough. I do shelf-life studies all the time and my panelists have to taste or at least smell old pizzas. I recently got a consumer complaint for a pizza for tasting rancid....it was a pizza that expired in 1999. Most likely the guy had it in his freezer for 10 years.

layla- i've not been to duffy's but it is my understanding that it's a fun cool place during the day and can get a little rowdy at night.

anyone else had duffy's love shack opinions?

the greenhouse is the same. our family had a really cool time here from @ 5-8 (even played bingo!). it started to get a little adult-ish around the time we left. i really liked the food here and the open air dining and view is really nice.

LysaC I would say that is about right. It is probably rated G or PG to around 6 or 7, PG13 until around 10 or 11, and then R after that... :)

We used to eat dinner there with the kids once and a while and they were quite young, single digits, and it was always fine.

I have been to the McD's in Frenchtown. It was weird (compared to the ones here). I don't remember what I got, fish or something. I do remember it was different and it wasn't what you would call "fast" food. It was slow food!
