Robin's Trip Report Part 2

Post by Robin in NC »

I'm ready to start on part two of this trip report. Are you ready Forum? Oh, Forum?

Huh. It's Memorial Day weekend as I write this, maybe everyone's gone their separate ways. Looks like I'll have to tackle this section of the trip report without my usual supporting cast.

WHATCHOO TALKIN' BOUT, WILLIS?

Oh, hey! Glad you guys could make it. I thought maybe I'd missed you.

WE CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE HOW LAME YOUR TRIP REPORTS WOULD BE WITHOUT US.

Well, let's get into it then. Saturday was a villa gravity day. We usually take it easy on our first day, get into a relaxed pace, get used to our home for the week. So we nibbled, we napped, we listened to my St. John playlist. By the way, it included a number of songs I found by checking out other playlists posted here. Eva Cassidy, David Gray, The Melodians, and Israel Kamakawiwo'ol are some of the artists I wasn't familiar with until I heard you all talking about them.

YOU'RE WELCOME. YOU PROBABLY HAD, WHAT, SOUSA MARCHES AND STUFF?

Come on, it wasn't that bad. Anyway, the villa had one malfunction - the air conditioning in one bedroom didn't work. We opened the windows and had a good breeze, so we slept okay. Still, we couldn't be sure those conditions would continue, so I called Windspree on Saturday morning to report the problem. They'd get someone out to look at it, they said. But no one came that day. Or the next day. Or the day after that. So I called Tuesday morning and was told, "The handyman is right here. I was just sending him up to see what's wrong."

Monsoon Monday was our departure day. It was not pretty.

When we rented the jeep, Conrad asked if I wanted the side windows...what would I ever need those for, I thought to myself...so I said no. Note to self...get the side windows next time. On the morning of departure day, we had 5 inches of standing water on the front floor boards. Thankfully, I used to own a wrangler and knew about the handy drain plugs.

The road by Starfish was flooded all the way past the tennis courts. We had to drive on the sidewalk to get through.

I got drenched walking from Conrad's to the ferry dock. I got more drenched standing under the "cover" at the dock because it was raining sideways and there are no shutters on the freakin' windows.

When the ferry arrived, there was no "walk of woe"...we hauled ass to get on the damn boat as fast as possible.

Once safely inside the boat, Marcia, bless her heart, hands me one sheet of a paper towel so that I can dry off. I was able to dry off about one square inch of my forehead before the paper towel became mush.

Yes, it was a cold and soggy trip back home.

Another excellent edition. Too bad about Jennie’s accident, hope it didn’t put much of a damper on the rest of the trip.

The picture from your villa of the deluge is phenomenal, what kind of camera do you have?

Fun report Robin!! I'm really sorry we didn't make it to the Beach Bar. Really. I didn't get a picture of the road up to Crash & Bev's villa, but if you ever saw it, you'd understand! :)

I wish that ark had shown up sooner, maybe we could have "boated" to Cruz Bay instead of having to drive in that crazy rain!

You reports are great! Certainly just what I needed on a Friday afternoon.
My first (and last) trip to the Cafe Roma bathroom wasn't pretty, either. Scary place for sure, no good can come from there!

Thanks for your report!

P.S. Note to self: Use term "Chipper as Flipper" as often as possible.

funny I see your "foodies"...LOL, like us..we usually only manage Cafe Roma and Lime Inn too. This past trip DD had to use the "ladies" and well, she said she'll never do that again. Sorry to read about the swollen ankle...had one of those broken once and it was a horrid time a few years back.

Thanks for the wonderful report and hope the weather got better.
