Rolling Thunder
Rolling Thunder
Just watching out my office window for the past 15 minutes while two rows of motorcycles for Rolling Thunder exited from I-66 into Arlington at North Fairfax Drive.
Pretty cool.

*Another fine scatterbrained production
Hi Gromit,
One of the best things I have ever done! I used to have a motorcyle in my younger days and had a great time riding in Rolling Thunder, nothing else like it. I would love to get another bike one of these days and ride again. Photographed it many times in the past. Great bunch of people.

These guys passed through Frankfort Wednesday right after lunch. I was headed back to work and there were 100s of them. Had no idea who are what they were at the time, but found out later they were visiting the state's Vietnam Memorial.

Quite an impressive group.
Here's a short article from our local paper, if anyone's interested.

The first few years you had to be on Constitution Ave. The bikes would cruise east then turn around at 4th and come back. Now they make a circuit and head back Independence. We spent an hour at 4th and PA Ave and saw a portion of the iron - reportedly 450,000 strong.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

I love, love, love Rolling Thunder. I used to work for the Paralyzed Veterans of America, and they were my "go-to guys" on fundraising, events, etc. When Michigan opened its Vietnam Monument, they all rode there and provided security for the event.
In my "current life," they go out to nursing homes and do veteran recognition ceremonies and bring gifts to the residents.
Anyhow, a great group of guys and that ride is pretty cool. A guy I know from PVA (Last I heard he was the Executive Director in D.C.) rides on a modified Harley.
