My husband and I used Courtesy Car Rental and Greg was great. We would definitely rent from them again.

The insurance thing is for their collision deductible waiver. If you don't want it you have to prove you have coverage, in effect, applicable in STJ. They're very particular about your proof of coverage and a card won't cut it. A letter from your agent addressing the policy term and applicability in STJ along with a copy of the policy showing the policy territory will do it.

Call or email Carmen for specific instructions.

We just used them in April and had a very good experience. Carmen was sweet and Mr Sutton was a gentleman.

Thanks ClevelandDave. I'll call my agent tomorrow and see if they can fax over a quick letter. All this paperwork! I feel like I should be traveling with an accordian file.

To be honest, I didn't do this and actually didn't notice any extra charge. I just remember seeing details in their contract (see their website) and a post here mentioning that they brought inadequate paperwork.

By all means, drop them an email or call to clarify.

The nice lady on the phone at Conrad Sutton's assured me that I would only need to bring my insurance card. I've got my fingers crossed! It's my last day of work (leaving tomorrow!), and I'm already drifting away...

We rented from Conrad our first trip on island and had no problems. He was always very friendly...even gave us directions and suggestions as we had no clue about anything on island.

That being said, the next time around, we rented from Courtesy because he had Ford Escapes (which I was thinking of buying at the time), and I wanted to be able to drive one. Greg at Courtesy was extremely nice and we prefered the location of the lot so we have continued to use Courtesy but would not rule out Sutton in the future.

Courtesy has moved since we were there last June so I will be interested to see how we deal with the new location. Has anyone used them since they moved?

Everyone at Conrad Sutton's was very nice, as promised. The insurance card in my wallet was all we needed. Thanks for the helpful advice!

We used Bougainvillea last week and I have decided that I will use them every visit. They were polite and very accommodating.

With all the mixed reviews....sounds like there is an opportunity here....perhaps Jeep TimeShares for St.John.
We also have Bougainvillea scheduled for our trip in July....44 days, 2 hours and 37 minutes (but who's counting)....
Will definitely provide feedback as part of the trip report....

I don't have to rent to often any more. The last time I was down with a big group we rented from sutton's for an extra jeep. When we went to pick it up he wanted to know where we got the other 2 jeeps we had was very upset when I told them they were friends of ours and we were using them for the week. After him yelling at me for 5 min about taking food off of the their plate I just told him if he didn't want to rent to us i'd understand and rent from some one else. He changed his mind then I'll never rent from them again
