The insurance thing is for their collision deductible waiver. If you don't want it you have to prove you have coverage, in effect, applicable in STJ. They're very particular about your proof of coverage and a card won't cut it. A letter from your agent addressing the policy term and applicability in STJ along with a copy of the policy showing the policy territory will do it.sinawitatanka wrote:We're renting from Conrad Sutton's in a few days. Can anyone give recommendations on what they'll want to see? Will our insurance card be adequate or am I supposed to bring something else? I don't rent cars very often and I don't want any problems.
Call or email Carmen for specific instructions.
We just used them in April and had a very good experience. Carmen was sweet and Mr Sutton was a gentleman.

We rented from Conrad our first trip on island and had no problems. He was always very friendly...even gave us directions and suggestions as we had no clue about anything on island.
That being said, the next time around, we rented from Courtesy because he had Ford Escapes (which I was thinking of buying at the time), and I wanted to be able to drive one. Greg at Courtesy was extremely nice and we prefered the location of the lot so we have continued to use Courtesy but would not rule out Sutton in the future.
Courtesy has moved since we were there last June so I will be interested to see how we deal with the new location. Has anyone used them since they moved?

Jeep TimeShares
With all the mixed reviews....sounds like there is an opportunity here....perhaps Jeep TimeShares for St.John.
We also have Bougainvillea scheduled for our trip in July....44 days, 2 hours and 37 minutes (but who's counting)....
Will definitely provide feedback as part of the trip report....

I don't have to rent to often any more. The last time I was down with a big group we rented from sutton's for an extra jeep. When we went to pick it up he wanted to know where we got the other 2 jeeps we had was very upset when I told them they were friends of ours and we were using them for the week. After him yelling at me for 5 min about taking food off of the their plate I just told him if he didn't want to rent to us i'd understand and rent from some one else. He changed his mind then I'll never rent from them again
