Villa Venturoso and questions

Post by Wes in CO »

Yeah,
I'm a lurker here too (thanks Xislandgirl for calling us out!). My wife and I are going May 5-19th and are staying at Villa Venturoso which is supposted to be pretty new in Cruz Bay. Anybody stayed there yet?

The last time we were on STJ was 5 years ago for our honeymoon. What's changed since then? We've been going to St. Barts for the last 3 years and decided to go back to STJ since it's our 5th anniversary.

By the way, I could qualify for the Wisconsin group since I lived there in the frozen tundra for 26 years also! :D

Thanks, Wes

If you are seriously interested, PM Tracy from WI or me and we will fill you in on the details!

Hi Wes,
Welcome to the board.
We also spent many vacations in St Barts. It was our favorite island. We are foody's (spelling?) and you can't beat the French for food. Three years ago we just said enough is enough because of the euro, you just can't help fell like your getting ripped off every time you turn around. So we tried St John, and well, we are going back again this year. Yes, it is a little bit more commercial than St Barts, but the snorkeling is great, and you get so much more "villa" for your money.
Enjoy your trip!

sea-nile,
Thanks for the Wisconsin offering. I probably won't be able to make that although it would be a great time. Usually I get back to visit family once a year or so.

Susan & Herb,
Yes, St. Barts is awesome for food (I'll miss all the fresh french pastries at Columbier) and the very empty beaches off season. I still love the island and everything about it, I even like the somewhat scary or exciting puddle jumper airplane ride, stalling as you land while landing on the runway that ends in the beach, but the Euro does hurt. Last year our first meal at a nice but not over the top casual fair restaurant on the harbor was something like $180 euro. That was for four people but it was bar type food. Take that times the exchange of 1.3 and it gets kind of hard looking at the bills when you come back! I do love the island and the european feel. Either way this is the St. John forum so we're really looking forward to coming back to STJ and relaxing. I think we'll be hiking to more remote beaches than the last time and "exploring" the island (well at least getting off the bar stool and painkillers!)

Thanks for the advice on the board!
Wes
