Allan I think I have it all covered - there will be 2 companies involved - the importer/customs clearing one, and a separate fulfillment house.

Tom - do you have the name of the winery - I can't remember - this was on the day you did the tour of Chianti?

Yes, I have purchased wine online. We buy a lot of wine, and would gladly try yours.

There are some great wines we tried in Italy last year when we were there. One white in Orvietto in particular we LOVED and cannot get here.

Alas, we live in PA...tough enough getting it in person here..LOL...the PLCB UGHHHH

I may buy if I can get it shipped to my friend in NJ.

Thanks everyone - you have given me a lot of incentive. We leave for the states in about a month, then get back to Italy in August. I am going to doing more research both here and in NJ - and then if we decide it is viable will probably launch the actual sales in September. I will keep everyone posted!

Orvieto is the grape named after that region - do you remember the producer name? There are a ton of Orvietos out there!

PA wine sales - I lived in Philadelphia for a while - no further comment.

Having a friend buy in NJ - isn't that... oh - nevermind :)

Anthony,

The wine we had in Orvietto was Barberani Orvieto Classico Superiore Castagnolo 2006

We did not see it much once we left Orvieto, we found it in a wine store in Cortona, I think, and bought it again.

All that stuff about shipping it to my friend in NJ, well I meant my shorehouse...yeah, my friend will be staying there to get the shipment.

Only kidding about the NJ thing! We have a lot of friends/family in Philly, and I actually know a lawyer(!) who was busted for driving over to NJ to buy alcohol. That whole thing is an archaic mess -

Anyway it looks like that wine is widely available in the US at pretty good prices - if the following link works you can see who is selling it:

I won't be competing against these guys! I do hope to be bringing in some interesting whites eventually however.

Any odd chance you could ship to Anguilla? I know I'd have to do customs, if this is even allowed here, but this could be interesting as my new landlord is from Italy (and travels back there quite a bit), so maybe they would enjoy as well...

Thanks Anthony,

I will check my trip notes and see if I wrote down the other wines we liked while on our trip to Italy last year.

Yes let me know - there are a lot wineries who have non-exclusives with their importers, and also I may be setting up places here with direct to consumer sales - so if there is buying interest it may be possible.

caribechris I also see that alerts to you are bouncing back - do you have your email address set up correctly?
