Top 5 Kenny Chesney songs?
Top 5 Kenny Chesney songs?
Not a current country/country rock/country pop fan – went through that phase yrs ago as a big fan of Poco, Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels, and Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen (!) so I need help on this. I figure there has to be something to KC worth checking out since he gets it and all.
So, no Kenny haters allowed
Just looking for consensus on top 5 songs worth checking out that are reflective of the island vibe.

When we come to place where the sea and the sky collide

If you're looking for the island vibe, just get his "Be As You Are" CD. It will have everything you need.
He does have some other beachy songs: No Shoes, No Problems; Outta Here (about driving to the Keys); When the Sun Goes Down, but they are not actually about St. John (he didn't write any of them), and they are not as good as the Be As You Are stuff. That album takes me right back to St. John.
His Lucky Old Sun CD has a few songs that were written on St. John and give you that same vibe, but my iPod is broken, so I don't know what they are off the top of my head "Way Down Here" is one of them, I think.
Also, one of my favorite Christmas songs is "All I want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan," but it's not the right season for that.

I'm not a country fan either, but I do have the Kenny Chesney Be As You Are album. I have to be in the right mood to put it on, but once in a while it makes for a nice listen. Anyway, my favorite song on that album is "Soul of a Sailor."
I'm not familiar with his other music so this might not be a very helpful recommendation.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

My husband, Rick, isn't a country fan and I thought he just sort of tolerated Kenny. However, before we went on our trip, he started taking my "Be As You Are" CD in his car to listen to. On our trip, he got introduced to "Lucky Old Sun" and his new favorite song is "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven". I even had to show him the video on my iPod on the plane on the way home. Now he goes around the house singing it. Another Kenny convert!
It's a good thing I have all that music on my iPod, 'cause I don't think I'm getting my CD back!

Hmmm....."Flip Flop Summer," "Anything But Mine," his new single "Out Last Night" "On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful" are all great summer songs! Headed to see the "Sun City Carnival" show this Thursday night!

OK...this one makes me have to reply - I'm usually just a lurker on the forum.
Been to STT/STJ 2 times in the last 3 years. LOVE KC songs!
Being from Michigan I have to close my eyes and imagine being on the island everytime I hear his songs.
1. Be As You Are - spent some great afternoons at the Quiet Mon both trips to STJ!
2. The Life
3. I'm Alive
4. No Where To Go, Nowhere to Be
5. Sherry's Living In Paradise
I have a pool in my backyard and I'm quite positive that my neighbors get tired of listening to Kenny songs all day while I float and drink painkillers. LOL

I totally agree with Lulu, BAYA is the CD for the island.
On 'Lucky old sun'......listen to
'the life' perfect song for al of those that want that island living
'nowhere to go, nowhere to be' wrote it on St. John
'way down here' wrote on his way to St. John
'boats' co wrote with friends out on the boat in St. Croix
add those + BAYA to your Ipod and you have a really good island Kenny mix....

1. Boston
2. Beer in Mexico
3. Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven...with video
4. Back Where I Come From
5. Don't Happen Twice...my new ring tone. I proposed to my wife sitting on the hood of my car 34 years ago at 3 in the morning, and we probably were drinking wine (Strawberry Hill) with two dixie cups...how wild is that?? We even liked Janis Joplin's "Bobby McGee"!!
Oh yeah, anything off BAYA!!
