Glad to see I'm not the only one going stir crazy. I've been packed since I had to cancel my October trip at the last minute. :D

See you guys on 5/24!

Just came back from opening day at a local amusement park (Dorney Park) with 3.5 year old Isabel. The St John related news here is that I was testing out our backpack carrier, which I haven't used for three years (since our first trip to St John). Let's just say that it was a bit easier carrying her when she was 6 months old:

I was able to maintain the extra weight, but I'm still on the fence for whether I can do this in St John weather and trail conditions. I'll have to hit the trails around here a bit more to see. Ideally, I'd like to do the Caneel & Margaret trail with her and my wife. Might be too ambitious.

Hey teefal, Dorney Park is practically in my backyard. We are practically neighbors! You certainly had a nice day to walk around the park. Maybe we will have some hotter days between now and your trip to try your experiment again. Last Sunday was a bit hotter. Did you try using the pack then?

Nope, took the backpack carrier out of the attic yesterday. Last weekend would have been a good test.

Good to know of another local forumite. I think bevm is from Doylestown too. I'm ten minutes from Dorney, between Fountain Hill and Summit Lawn (on the mountain).

teefal, we live off 24th street near the Swain school. Small world, huh? The Lehigh Valley will be well represented on the island at the end of May.

What a blast from the past! My aunt used to live in Jim Thorpe and cousins in Allentown. We used to spend 2 weeks every summer there and used to go to Dorney Park as kids - I didn't even think that it was still around. Good memories...

Well, it looks as though my hopes for some hiking may be in trouble. My wife pulled a leg muscle or something and is hobbling around. I'm hoping she'll be up for snorkeling & scuba at least. Time will tell.

Yep, Paula's officially got a sprained leg. Doctor says it could be fine in two weeks, if she's careful. Based on the way she was running around at a party we had tonight, I'm guessing we'll be on the beach the whole trip :)

Ah well, how are the rest of the Memorial weekend crowd doing? Getting excited yet? Started packing?

Can time pass any slower? To top it off this persistent wet, cool weather in the northest is making the wait almost unbearable. Got to do some more packing this weekend just to keep myself sane! One good thing about the cool weather. It makes it easier to pack our clothes for STJ because there is no way we are wearing it here!

We will be there, party of 4.

MaryBeth, I thought you had gotten some relief for your knee using eucalyptus oil?

Beautiful day in Pennsylvania today. Paula may be limping along, but young Isabel is ready for the trails of St John.

There's a half-dozen geocaches on the island and Isabel *loves* geocaching.
