countdown...what have I forgotten..yet still WEEKS away

Post by KTinTX »

We don't leave until June 24th, but I keep thinking "what have I forgotten to book, do, or plan for"!

1. Check...Villa is paid in full.
2. Airfare fully booked and paid.
3. Jeep rented through Conrad Sutton.
4. Wife & I have committed to do carry-on and mail down our snorkel gear and sundries through Connections. I have not contacted them yet, as I'm over a month away from sending a package.
5. Day sail...have booked Survivan for a day trip to Jost on June 26th. Anyone that wants to join give them a ring/email. I guaranteed 3 passengers despite us having 2 so that they would go regardless of how many people. They have room for 6 and we're just 2.
6. snorkel gear...still have to get out our gear that hasn't been used in a few years...it's been in the garage in Houston, TX so we might need some new stuff due to the rubbers breaking down in the heat. (sounds like a problem for high school guys!)
7. camera equipment: Vicki convinced me that whatever I do, I must bring my good DSLR, but I'm looking at the new Canon D10 waterproof Powershot model as our beach/snorkel camera.
8. food/drink: I think that La Plancha del Mer, La Tapa, and Zozo's make our short list for dining out nicely (the trip is to celebrate our 15th anniversary). Wife is a wine, margarita, and cosmo drinker, but is MUCH averse to coconut flavors which limits choices when in the islands. I'm an equal opportunity drunk, with preference to what is in my hand at the time.

WHAT HAVE I FORGOTTEN TO DO! I do plan a lot, but I am also good about just 'living in the moment' so other than our charter, nothing is planned or set in stone.

Did you make a list for what gets mailed down?

Everyone talks about rash guards, gonna bring those?

Answer: Relax. You've got it covered. Sit back, breathe deep, and smile knowing it's not long now. No matter what you forget, you'll realize when you get there that you didn't need it anyway.

As an over-researcher/planner myself, I think you've done well. Now you can relax and concentrate on the countdown. And try not to drive people nuts talking about it (or maybe that's just me?). :)

Pull out your passports and check the expiration dates if you plan to carry them.

OK...

passports - check
Relax - though the two are diabolically opposed, I do the planning but I'm the most easy-going and relaxed person you could meet.

iPod - check (our villa is supposed to have a great sound system and iPod dock)

and Vicki, the camera gear is ready to go, though I may pick up one of Canon's new D10 waterproof/shockproof cameras before the trip as our 'snorkel and boat trip camera'.

Thanks..any other ideas please keep 'em coming.

We pre-ordered the Powershot D10 and Paula's been checking Amazon every day, anxious for her new toy. They said availability was early May. Crossing fingers :)
